Bible Vitamin

Scripture

1Th 1:2-3 (ESV) We always thank God for all of you and pray for you constantly. remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Observation

Paul’s letter to the Thessalonians is most likely one of his earliest.  There had been a great response to the Gospel in Thessalonica and many believed in Jesus as Messiah and Savior.  However this resulted in great persecution and Paul and Silas had to flee for their lives.  Paul sent Timothy to check on them and brought back a wonderful report of the believers at Thessalonica and how they were continuing to walk and grow in the faith.  (Check out the Bible Project summary of 1Thessalonians https://bibleproject.com/explore/video/1-thessalonians/ )  Paul uses three words to describe and challenge their lives as Christ-followers: faith, love, and hope. Paul told the Corinthian believers, “And so faith, hope, love abide [faith–conviction and belief respecting man’s relation to God and divine things; hope–joyful and confident expectation of eternal salvation; love–true affection for God and man, growing out of God’s love for and in us], these three; but the greatest of these is love.†(1Cor 13:13 AMP). Even in the midst of difficulties and even persecution these three things are what will keep us and carry us through.
How does this apply to you?
