１列王記 3:28（新改訳JSS2017）　全イスラエルは、王が下したさばきを聞いて、王を恐れた。神の知恵が彼のうちにあって、さばきをするのを見たからである。

ソロモンは神に知恵をくださるようにと求めました。さっそく、神の知恵が必要な裁判が持ってこられました。二人の遊女がそれぞれほぼ同じ時に赤ちゃんを産んだのです。ところが、一人の赤んぼが死んだとき、その母親はもう一人の赤ちゃんと置き換えて、これこそ自分の赤ちゃんだと言った。しかし、もう一人のお母さんは生きている子こそ自分の息子であると主張しました。ソロモンはこの話を聞いて、判断を下しました。剣を持ってきて、生きている子を半分に切りそれぞれの女に分け与えなさいと言いました。ひとりの女は、とんでもない、生きたまま相手に上げてくださいと叫びました。しかし、相手の女はそれでもいい、半分に切りどちらも生きた子を持たなくてもいいと言いました。そこで、ソロモンは本当の母を見分け、その女に子を与えるようにと判決を下しました。この裁判と判決を聞いたイスラエルの人々はソロモンに神の知恵が与えられていることを知りました。ヤコブ書では神の知恵の特徴を教えています。「しかし、上からの知恵は、まず第一に清いものです。それから、平和で、優しく、協調性があり、あわれみと良い実に満ち、偏見がなく、偽善もありません。義の実を結ばせる種は、平和をつくる人々によって平和のうちに蒔かれるのです」（ヤコブ3:17-18 JSS2017）。サラ李ヤコブは教えています。「あなたがたのうちで、知恵があり、分別のある人はだれでしょうか。その人はその知恵にふさわしい柔和な行いを、立派な生き方によって示しなさい」（ヤコブ3:13 JSS2017）。と同時に天からではなくこの世の悪しき「知恵」もあるので気を付けるようにと警告しています。その「知恵」は「苦々しいねたみや利己的な思いがある…自慢知らり、真理に逆らって、偽ったりする」ものであるといいっています（14節参照）。「ねたみや利己的な思いのある所には、秩序うの乱れや、あらゆる邪悪な行いがあるからです」（ヤコブ3:16 JSS2017）。どちらの知恵に従って生きていますか？

1Ki 3:28 NIV84 When all Israel heard the verdict the king had given, they held the king in awe, because they saw that he had wisdom from God to administer justice.

Observation

Solomon asked God for wisdom and right off the bat, God sends him a situation which requires wisdom only God could give.  Two prostitutes who had babies right close together come to him.  The one baby has died and both mothers claim the living baby to be theirs.  God gives Solomon wisdom in this very difficult case.  He calls for a sword and orders the living baby to be divided between the two women.  The one woman says, “No, just give the living child to the other woman.” But the second woman says, “Neither I nor you shall have him. Cut him in two!” Solomon rendered his judgement, “Give the living baby to the first woman. Do not kill him; she is the mother.”  All Israel heard the verdict…and saw that he (Solomon) had wisdom from God.”  James tells us what God’s wisdom is like. “But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. 18 Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.” (Jam 3:17-18 NIV84)  James also instructs us,  “Who is wise and understanding among you?  Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom” (Jam 3:11 NIV84); but warns there is a “wisdom” that does not come from heaven, that is characterized by “envy, selfish-ambition, there you will find disorder and every evil practice.” (Jam 3:15 NIV84)  Which wisdom do you live by?
