使徒の働き 14:16-17(新改訳JSS2017)　 神は、過ぎ去った時代には、あらゆる国の人々がそれぞれ自分の道を歩むままにしておられました。17それでも、ご自分を証ししないでおられたのではありません。あなたがたに天からの雨と実りの季節を与え、食物と喜びであなたがたの心を満たすなど、恵みを施しておられたのです。」

コメント

パウロとバルナバは福音の良い知らせを伝えていました。ある者は信仰をもって応答し信じました。他の者は不信仰と頑なな心のゆえに信じようとしませんでした。奇跡や神のみわざを見ても堅い心が変わりませんでした。ある宗教心のある人々はパウロとバルナバを人のかたちをとった神々であると思い込みました。しかし、パウロとバルナバは唯一の真の神、創造主に彼らを向かせようとしました。この神に無関心であり、知らない間も私たちを見守り、支え、養ってくださる神であると言いました。神の愛といつくしみ、良くしてくださることは聖書を通して語られています（詩篇145:15-16も参照）。イエスはこのように教えました。「天におられるあなたがたの父の子どもになるためです。父はご自分の太陽を悪人にも善人にも昇らせ、正しい者にも正しくない者にも雨を降らせてくださるからです」（マタイ 5:45 JSS2017）。そしてパルロは言いました。「それとも、神のいつくしみ深さがあなたを悔い改めに導くことも知らないで、その豊かないつくしみと忍耐と寛容を軽んじているのですか」（ローマ2:4 JSS2017）。ダビデも賛美しました。「主に感謝せよ。主はまことにいつくしみ深い。その恵みはとこしえまで。言え。「私たちの救いの神よ、私たちをお救いください。国々から私たちを集め、救い出してください。あなたの聖なる御名に感謝し、あなたの誉れを勝ち誇るために」（1歴代誌 16:34-35　JSS2017）。

Act 14:16-17 NLT  In the past He permitted all the nations to go their own ways, 17 but He never left them without evidence of Himself and His goodness. For instance, He sends you rain and good crops and gives you food and joyful hearts.”

Observation

Paul and Barnabas are preaching the good news of the Gospel.  Some people respond in faith and believe, while others harden their hearts and refuse to believe.  Even when miraculous signs are performed it does not change hard hearts.  Some religious people try to make Paul and Barnabas into gods (called Barnabas Zeus, and Paul Hermes) but Paul and Barnabas continue to try to turn them to the one true Creator God who has cared for them and been good to them even when they did not recognize God’s goodness.  “The LORD is good to everyone. He showers compassion on all His creation. 15  The eyes of all look to You in hope; You give them their food as they need it. 16  When You open your hand, You satisfy the hunger and thirst of every living thing. 17 The LORD is righteous in everything He does; He is filled with kindness.” (Psa 145:9,15-16 NLT)  “In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For He gives His sunlight to both the evil and the good, and He sends rain on the just and the unjust alike.” (Matt 5:45 NLT) “Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?” (Rom 2:4 NKJV; see also 1Chro 16:34-35)
