使徒の働き 18:9-10 (リビングバイブル JCB)　 ある夜、主は幻の中で、パウロに言われました。「恐れるな。語り続けなさい。やめてはいけない。 10わたしがついている。だれもあなたに危害を加えることはできない。この町には、わたしにつく者がたくさんいる。」

コメント

パウロは今回の宣教旅行で様々な苦難や苦しみを通されてきました。リステラの町では多分死ぬほど石打にされ、よみがえらせられました。でも打撲や痛みも残っていたでしょう。また、ピリピの町ではむち打ち刑にされて牢獄に入れられました。これからも体のいろいろな痛みなどがあったでしょう。今はローマ帝国の中でも、最も堕落した、道徳的にみだらな町コリントに来ています。ここでどうされるか、何が待ち受けているかと思ったら、少し不安や恐れもあったかもしれません。少し静かに、片割れで、福音のみことばを語ろうと思ったかもしれません。しかし、主イエスが幻で現れて、語りました。「恐れるな。語り続けなさい。やめてはいけない」。そして、約束し、励ましました。「この町には、わたしにつく者がたくさんいる。」後にローマの牢から手紙を書き、祈りを要請しました。「また、私のためにも祈ってください。主のことを大胆に告げる時に、また、主の救いは外国人にも及ぶと説明する時に、適切なことばが与えられるよう祈ってください。 20私は今、神に託されたこの福音を伝えたために鎖につながれています。しかし、この牢獄の中でも、語るべきことを、主のために大胆に絶えず語れるよう祈ってください」（エペソ6:19-20 JCB）。イエスも約束しました。「しかし、父がわたしの代わりに助け手（聖霊）を送ってくださる時には、その方があなたがたにすべてのことを教え、わたしが話しておいたことを、みな思い出させてくださるのです。 27あなたがたに贈り物をあげましょう。あなたがたの思いと心を安らかにすること、それがわたしの贈り物です。わたしが与える平安は、この世のはかない平安とは比べものになりません。だから、どんな時にもおろおろしたり、恐れたりしてはいけません」（ヨハネ14:26-27 JCB）。

Act 18:9-10 NLT  One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision and told him, “Don’t be afraid! Speak out! Don’t be silent! 10 For I am with you, and no one will attack and harm you, for many people in this city belong to Me.”

Observation

Paul has been through much.  He was attacked and stoned in Lystra (see Acts 14:19).  He was severely beaten and thrown in prison in Philippi.  He has been ridiculed and threatened wherever he has gone.  Even Paul probably had moments of fear for his life and for even more physical attacks against him.  It would be easy to maybe think to not be so vocal or stand out so much.  But the Lord appeared in a vision and told Paul personally, “Do not be afraid!”  Would he have said that if Paul was not struggling somewhat with fear? But the Lord encouraged Paul and told him that in this evil and immoral city of Corinth, “I have many people in this city.”  Later when he was again in prison (in Rome) he asked for prayer. “Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.”  This is what Jesus promised and said to us, “But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14:26-27 NIV84)
