使徒の働き18:25-26 (新改訳 JSS2017)　 この人は主の道について教えを受け、霊に燃えてイエスのことを正確に語ったり教えたりしていたが、ヨハネのバプテスマしか知らなかった。彼は会堂で大胆に語り始めた。それを聞いたプリスキラとアキラは、彼をわきに呼んで、神の道をもっと正確に説明した。

イエス・キリストの福音のことばが様々なところから教えられ、色々な声が上がっていました。その一つはアレキサンドリア（エジプト北部）から学者であり教師であるアポロという名の人が語っていました。彼は、どこでイエスのことを聞かれたか定かではありませんが（バプテスマのヨハネの弟子などからかもしれません）、力強く大胆にイエスキリストのことをみことば（旧約聖書）から語っていました。彼の話を聞いたアキラとプリスキラはアポロと話し「神の道をもっと正確に説明した」（多分パウロから学んだことや、聖霊のバプテスマのことなどかもしれません。使徒の働き 19:1-4を比較）。私たちは真理を知り尽くしていると思い込んではなりません。真理は変わりません。しかし、真理に対する理解が広がり、成長するべきです。私たちは常にもっと正確に神の道（真理）を知る者となりたいです。そしてベレアの信者たちと同じように「素直で、非常に熱心にみことば受け入れ、果たしてそのとおりかどうか、毎日聖書を調べ（る）」者となりましょう（使徒の働き 17:11 JSS2017）。「私たちの主であり、救い主であるイエス・キリストの恵みと知識において成長しなさい」（2ペテロ 3:18 JSS2017）。

Act 18:25-26 NLT  He had been taught the way of the Lord, and he taught others about Jesus with an enthusiastic spirit and with accuracy. However, he knew only about John’s baptism. 26 When Priscilla and Aquila heard him preaching boldly in the synagogue, they took him aside and explained the way of God even more accurately.

Observation

The word of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is spreading being taught by various different ones.  Another voice was that of Apollos, a scholar and teacher from Alexandria (northern Egypt.) We are not told where or how he heard about Jesus (possibly from some of the disciples of John the Baptist) but he shared the truth he knew with great fervency and accurately.  When Aquila and Priscilla heard him, they were impressed with his boldness, but then shared with him and explained the way of God even more accurately (probably some of Paul’s insights and understanding of Jesus the Messiah and his purposes, also possibly about the baptism of the Holy Spirit, comp. with Acts 19:1-4).  We must never think or assume that we have all of the truth or understanding of the truth.  Truth will never change but our understanding and insights can and should grow.  We must always be open to be taught to understand “the way of God even more accurately.”　We should be more like the Bereans who “searched the Scriptures day after day to see if Paul and Silas were teaching the truth.” (Acts 17:11 NLT)  “Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” (2Pet 3:18 ESV)
