使徒の働き 21:12-14 (リビングバイブル JCB)　 これを聞いた者はみな、この町のクリスチャンも、同行していた私たちも、声をそろえてパウロに、エルサレムへは行かないでほしいと涙ながらに訴えました。13しかし、パウロは言いました。「なぜ泣いたり、私の心をくじいたりするのですか。私は主イエスのためなら、エルサレムで投獄されてもかまわないと、いや、殺されてもいいとさえ覚悟しています。」 14もうこれ以上何を言ってもむだで、私たちは、「主のお心のままに」と言って、黙るほかありませんでした。

パウロは御霊によってエルサレムへ行くべきであると示され、確信していました。待ち受けている可能性のことはよく心得ていました。エルサレムへ旅を続けている中で、それぞれの町で起こされている教会に立ち寄って、ともに交わり、励ましました。聖霊は彼らにもこれからパウロに起ころうとしていることが示されました。アガボという名の知られている預言者もパウロに語り、示しました。「アガボはパウロの帯を取り、それで自分の手足を縛ってから言いました。「聖霊が告げられました。『この帯の持ち主は、エルサレムでユダヤ人からこのように縛り上げられ、ローマ人に引き渡される。』」（11節）。くりかえし聖霊がエルサレムで待ち受けていることが表されていたので、同行している人々も、そこにいた方々も、パウロにエルサレムへ行くことを思い直すようにと強く勧めました（泣きながら懇願しました）。しかし、パウロはこれらのことをよく理解していました。最初に召命を受けたときから示されていたのです（使徒の働き 9:15-16参照）。主に従う道は必ずしも、耐えやすく、楽で、問題のない道ではありません。イエスも、前にあるのは困難と苦しみであることが分かっていても、「わたしの思いではなく、あなたのこころがなりますように。」と祈りました。三人のヘブル人も火を通されました。しかし主は共にいました。ダニエルはししの穴に投げ入れられました。しかし主はライオンの口をふさぎました。エレミヤは正しい、主に従う者でありながら、エルサレムと神殿の崩壊を通されました。信仰は私たちの歩む道を楽にしてくれるのではなく、神への信頼と確信を与えてくれます（へブル 11:36-40参照）。パウロと共にいた人々の結論は「主の御心がなりますように」（JSS2017） でした。

Act 21:12-14 NLT  When we heard this, we and the local believers all begged Paul not to go on to Jerusalem. 13 But he said, “Why all this weeping? You are breaking my heart! I am ready not only to be jailed at Jerusalem but even to die for the sake of the Lord Jesus.” 14  When it was clear that we couldn’t persuade him, we gave up and said, “The Lord’s will be done.”

Observation

Paul sensed by the Spirit and was confident that he should go to Jerusalem.  He was fully aware of what could be awaiting him there.  As he traveled on the way, he fellowshipped with and encouraged the believers in many of the cities and locations where churches had begun to form.  The Spirit of God revealed to them what would happen to Paul in Jerusalem.  A well known prophet named Agabus also gave Paul a prophetic demonstration and word, “He came over, took Paul’s belt, and bound his own feet and hands with it. Then he said, “The Holy Spirit declares, ‘So shall the owner of this belt be bound by the Jewish leaders in Jerusalem and turned over to the Gentiles.'” (v.11)  Those who were there, including the ones who had been traveling with Paul, began to warn and advise that they not go up to Jerusalem, since the Holy Spirit had shown them repeatedly what was about to happen if he went.  But Paul already knew from the Lord that even though trouble was ahead that this was the will of the Lord for him　(see Acts 9:15-16).  The way of the Lord is not always the easy road.  Even Jesus knowing what was ahead of him and even prayed that he could avoid it, went through with it because he knew it was the will of the Father.  Paul also had a strong sense of what God’s will was, and would not be dissuaded because of difficulty or hardships ahead. The 3 Hebrew children went through the fire, but God was with them.  Daniel was thrown into the lions den but God shut the mouths of the lions, Jeremiah went through the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple with the people even though he was faithful to the Lord.  Faith and following the Lord does not promise an easy and comfortable life (see Heb 11:36-40). Paul and those with them had one conclusion, “The Lord’s will be done.”
