Scripture
Act 26:24-25 NLTÂ Suddenly, Festus shouted, “Paul, you are insane. Too much study has made you crazy!” 25 But Paul replied, “I am not insane, Most Excellent Festus. What I am saying is the sober truth.
Observation
Paul’s defense and testimony is so bizarre that to the Roman governor Festus it seemed like insane craziness. But Paul assures him. “What I am say is the sober truth.â€Â He appeals to King Agrippa under who’s reign and that of his father Herod Agrippa, everything concerning Jesus, the apostles and the church has happened. He confronts King Agrippa, “Do you believe the prophets?†but doesn’t let him answer, “I know you do—†(v.27 NLT). At this, King Agrippa quickly becomes defensive, “Do you think you can persuade me to become a Christian so quickly?†(v.28 NLT)  But this is exactly Paul’s goal and purpose and wisely responds, “That’s what I’m praying for, whether now or later, and not only you but everyone listening today, to become like me–except, of course, for this prison jewelry!” (v.29 MSG) Paul writes to the Corinthians, “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God…But we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, 24 but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength.†(1Cor 1:18, 23-25 NIV84) The timing is up to God. The responsibility of sharing the Good News is up to us.
How does this apply to you?
