使徒の働き 28:20（新改訳JSS2017）　そういうわけで、私はあなたがたに会ってお話ししたいと願ったのです。私がこの鎖につながれているのは、イスラエルの望みのためです。」

コメント

パウロはくりかえし彼が抱いている望みについて言及しています。これは「イスラエルの望み」でもあると言っています（使徒の働き 23:6; 24:25; 26:6-7も参照）。これはよめがえりの望みでもあります、また神の救いの望みでもあります。神は必ずご自分の民のために働いて、救いをもたらされます。「イスラエルの望み」という表現をエレミヤも二回ほど使っています（エレミヤ 4:8; 17:13）。何も望みえないように見える時にそれでも、主なる神に望みがあり、その望みに支えられました。この望みはパウロをも支えました。そして、良く語りました。「この希望は失望に終わることがありません。なぜなら、私たちに与えられた聖霊によって、神の愛が私たちの心に注がれているからです。実にキリストは、私たちがまだ弱かったころ、定められた時に、不敬虔な者たちのために死んでくださいました」（ローマ 5:5-6 JSS2017）。「私たちは、この望みとともに救われたのです。目に見える望みは望みではありません。目で見ているものを、だれが望むでしょうか。私たちはまだ見ていないものを望んでいるのですから、忍耐して待ち望みます」（ローマ8:24-25 JSS2017）。望み（希望）とは力強いもので、手放さなければどんなときにも支えてくれるものです。パウロはローマの聖徒たちのためにこのように祈られました。「どうか、希望の神が、信仰によるすべての喜びと平安であなたがたを満たし、聖霊の力によって希望にあふれさせてくださいますように」（ローマ15:13 JSS2017）。私たちの望みはイエスを死者の中からもよみがえらせた神にのみあります。この望みはパウロが握りしめ、絶対に手放しませんでした。

Observation

Paul refers several times to the Hope which he has and which he shares with the people of Israel (see also Acts 23:6; 24:25; 26:6-7). It is the hope of the resurrection and the hope of God’s salvation.  God will always work for his people to bring about salvation.  The phase “hope of Israel” is used by Jeremiah twice, when all seems hopeless for him. Hope is what sustains and keeps Paul going. He talks a lot about hope. “And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. 6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.” (Rom 5:5-6 NIV84) “For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? 25 But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.” (Rom 8:24-25 NIV84)  Hope is a powerful thing if we do not turn loose of it.  Paul prayed for the Roman Christians this way, “And again, Isaiah says, “The Root of Jesse will spring up, one who will arise to rule over the nations; the Gentiles will hope in him.” 13  May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Rom 15:12-13 NIV84) Or only hope is in Jesus Christ who was raised from the dead.  This is the hope that Paul hung on to and would never let go.
