ヘブル 3:12-13 （新改訳JSS2017）　兄弟たち。あなたがたのうちに、不信仰な悪い心になって、生ける神から離れる者がないように気をつけなさい。「今日」と言われている間、日々互いに励まし合って、だれも罪に惑わされて頑なにならないようにしなさい。

気をつけなさい。見張っていなさい。注意しなさい。それぞれの訳がありますが、箴言にはこのように警告しています。「何よりも、あなたの心を守りなさい。心は生活全体に影響を与えるからです」（箴言 4:23 JCB）。何を探しているのでしょうか。いろいろありますが、一つ大きいことは不信仰です。不信仰は私たちをつまずかせます。不信仰な心は神が約束されたものを受けられないようにします。しかし、何かを受けないだけではありません。聖書は不信仰な心を悪い心とも言っています。生ける神から私たちを遠ざけるからです。エレミヤはくりかえしこの悪い心について語っています。「わたしの民は二つの悪を行った。いのちの水の泉であるわたしを捨て、多くの水溜めを自分たちのために掘ったのだ。水を溜めることのできない、壊れた水溜めを」（エレミヤ2:13 JSS2017）。「しかし、彼らは聞かず、耳を傾けず、頑なで悪い心のはかりごとによって歩み、前進どころか後退した」（エレミヤ7:24 JSS2017）。また、エレミヤは宣言しました。「心はよろずの物よりも偽るもので、はなはだしく悪に染まっている。だれがこれを、よく知ることができようか。10 「主であるわたしは心を探り、思いを試みる。おのおのに、その道にしたがい、その行いの実によって報いをするためである」（エレミヤ17:9-10 口語訳）。神が語られていること以外に耳を傾けると、私たちは罪の欺きによって、心が頑なになるのです。解決るは神と神のことばに立ち返ることです。そして、神のことばに信頼と確信を置くのです。これは信仰と言います。「わたしの義人は信仰によって生きる。もし恐れ退くなら、わたしの心は彼を喜ばない。」しかし私たちは、恐れ退いて滅びる者ではなく、信じていのちを保つ者です」（へブル10:38-39 JSS2017）。エレミヤはまた、神に信頼して信じる者の祝福をこのように説明しています。「主に信頼する者に祝福があるように。その人は主を頼みとする。その人は、水のほとりに植えられた木。流れのほとりに根を伸ばし、暑さが来ても暑さを知らず、葉は茂って、日照りの年にも心配なく、実を結ぶことをやめない」（エレミヤ17:7-8 JSS2017）。

Heb 3:12-13 ESV Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. 13 But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.

Observation

We are given a warning here: Take heed, take care, see to it, beware, be careful, search your heart every day. Proverbs tells us, “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.” (Pro 4:23 NLT)   What are we to be on the look out for?  Unbelief.  An unbelieving heart will trip us up and keep us from receiving and entering what God has for us.  But it is more than just missing out on something.  The Bible calls an unbelieving heart, an evil heart, because it turns us away from the Living God.  Jeremiah warns and speaks much about this “evil heart”. “For my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and hewed out cisterns for themselves, broken cisterns that can hold no water.” (Jer 3:13 ESV) “But they did not obey or incline their ear, but walked in their own counsels and the stubbornness of their evil hearts, and went backward and not forward.” (Jer 7:24 ESV) Jeremiah also said, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? 10 “I the LORD search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.” (Jer 17:9-10 ESV).  When we start listening to anything other than what God says, our hearts become “hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.” The answer is to turn back to God and his Word and put our whole trust in him. This is called Faith.  “But my righteous one shall live by faith, and if he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him.” But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.” (Heb 10:38-39 ESV) “Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.” Jer 17:7-8)
