ヘブル10:19-20 （新改訳JSS2017）　こういうわけで、兄弟たち。私たちはイエスの血によって大胆に聖所に入ることができます。20イエスはご自分の肉体という垂れ幕を通して、私たちのために、この新しい生ける道を開いてくださいました。

これはヘブル書が言うとしている中心テーマです。今、キリストにあって、主なる神の御前に近づく新しい、生ける道が備えられたということです。旧約においては大祭司のみが、年に一度、血をたずさえ、神の臨在の前に近づき、この地上における神の御座と臨在の場所を現す、主の契約の箱の前に進むことができました（詩篇80:1-3; 99:1参照）。しかし、これは天にある主なる神の王室（御座）を指す、ひな型にすぎませんでした（ダニエル7:9; 使徒の働き 7:49; 黙示録4:2-6参照）。キリストの尊い、罪のない、完全ないけにえによって、その血が天の贖罪所にふりかけられ、私たちの罪のために宥めの贖いがなされました（1ヨハネ 2:2; 4:10参照）。だから、へブル書の著者は続けて私たちにすすめています。「心に血が振りかけられて、邪悪な良心をきよめられ、からだをきよい水で洗われ、全き信仰をもって真心から神に近づこうではありませんか。23約束してくださった方は真実な方ですから、私たちは動揺しないで、しっかりと希望を告白し続けようではありませんか」（22-23節 JSS2017）。また、前にも書き勧めました。「ですから躊躇せず、神の御座に近づいてあわれみを受け、時にかなって与えられる恵みをいただこうではありませんか」（へブル4:16 JCB; 14-16をお読みください）。これこそがイエスが私たちのために備えてくださった、神の御座の前に進む、新しい、生きた道です。

Observation

This is what the whole book of Hebrews is all about.  There is now a new and better way to come into the very presence of God.  In the OT, only the High Priest could come into the very presence of God in the Most Holy Place, where the Ark of the Covenant, God’s Throne and dwelling place here on earth was (see Psa 80:1-3; 99:1).  But this was only a shadow of the true throne room in Heaven (see Dan 7:9; Acts 7:49; Rev 4:2-6). By Christ’s sinless and perfect sacrifice, the blood was placed on the Mercyseat, making atonement and propitiation for our sins (see 1John 2:2; 4:10).  That is why the writer of Hebrews continues on and admonishes us, “Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.” (v. 22-23 NIV84)  And earlier he already encouraged us. “Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” (Heb 4:16; read 14-16) This is truly the New and Living Way that Jesus provided for us to approach the very Throne of God.
