Scripture
Heb 11:5-6 NIV84Â By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death; he could not be found, because God had taken him away. For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God. 6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
Observation
How important is faith? Without faith it is impossible to please God. This is a commentary on Enoch’s life. Not much is known about Enoch; only that he walked with God during his “short†life (he only lived 365 years compared to his contemporaries who lived into their 900s) But he so loved and pleased God that he walked together with him and walked right into God’s eternal presence, without dying. This is also a picture of what will happen to those at the end of this age (1Thes 4:17; 1Cor 15:52-54). This will happen not just because we happen to be alive at that time but because, just like Enoch “we walked with God†(Gen 5:22) and because we are ones who please God. And we are told that to please God we “must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.â€Â Enoch did this for 365 years. We must walk in this God pleasing faith, 365 days a year. Â
