箴言4:5-9 （新改訳JSS2017）　知恵を得よ。悟りを得よ。忘れてはならない。私の口のことばからそれてはならない。 6知恵を捨てるな。これがあなたを守る。これを愛せ。これがあなたを保つ。 7知恵の初めに、知恵を買え。あなたが得たものすべてに換えて、悟りを買え。 8それを尊べ。それはあなたを高める。それを抱きしめると、それはあなたに誉れを与える。 9それは頭に麗しい花の冠を与え、輝かしい冠をあなたに授ける。」

コメント

ソロモンは息子に話しています。人生で最も価値ある財貨を与えようとしています：知恵です。これはまた自分の父母からもゆずられたものであると言っています（3-4節参照）。今は次の世代である息子に渡そうとしています。これこそ神からの真の知恵が教えられ、世代から世代へと渡されるべきものです。残念ながら、多くの場合、それは途中の道端に落ちてしまうことが多いのです。知恵の価値と希少性を知らないからです。（ソロモンの息子レハボアムは残念ながらこの知恵を心に受け止めませんでした。そればかりか、ソロモン自身この知恵を投げ捨てて、愚かさを追求し追い求めました（伝道の書を参照）。しかし、この箇所では知恵の価値をもう一度説明しています。「知恵は最も価値ある財貨、買い取りなさい。啓示される知識こそ最も必要なものです。投資せよ。」（7節 The Passion Translation 英語、パッション訳）。その結果、帰ってくる利益は計り知れない。この箇所で知恵はもう一度女性にたとえられていますが、これは母親です。この母親は名誉と人生を美しく飾る物を与え、頭には勝利の栄冠をかぶらせようとしています。だから強く助言しています。「知恵を買え！知識に投資せよ！」最終的には人生に計り知れない収益が帰ってくる。

Pro 4:5-9 NIV84  Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or swerve from them. 6 Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you. 7 Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding. 8 Esteem her, and she will exalt you; embrace her, and she will honor you. 9 She will set a garland of grace on your head and present you with a crown of splendor.”

Observation

Solomon is speaking to his son.  He is imparting to him the most important and valuable commodity in life: Wisdom.  He also says that it is the most important thing that his father and mother passed on to him (see v.3-4).  Now he is passing it to the next generation. This is how true and godly wisdom is to be taught, from one generation to the next.  Unfortunately, many times it falls by the wayside because a young person does not see or perceive the invaluable treasure this thing called Wisdom really is (Not only does his son Rehoboam not take truly take these words to heart, Solomon himself actually turns from the way of godly Wisdom and forgets, for a time, this most important thing in life; see Ecclesiastes, especially his conclusion Ecc 12:13-14.) Here, he once again reiterates the value of wisdom: “Wisdom is the most valuable commodity—so buy it! Revelation knowledge is what you need—so invest in it!” (v.7 TPT).  The results and returns are immeasurable. Wisdom is again typified as a woman, this time as a mother who will bring you to honor, garland you with grace and make you a victor in life, set the victors crown on your head.  That is why he so strongly advises, Buy wisdom!  Invest in understanding (see v.7 TPT).  This is what will ultimately bring great returns in our life.
