Scripture
Pro 6:6-8 NLT Take a lesson from the ants, you lazybones. Learn from their ways and become wise! 7 Though they have no prince or governor or ruler to make them work, 8 they labor hard all summer, gathering food for the winter.
Observation
Proverb give so many pictures of and nuggets of wisdom in such concise form. Here is one: “Take a lesson from the ants.â€Â They are an embodiment of and “social habits, foresight, economy and industry†(TSK note). Everyone has a job to do which they diligently do but also work in cooperation and harmony to create a community that accomplishes amazing things. But the lesson here is, just diligently do what is before you to do.  Solomon in another place says it this way, “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the grave, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.†(Ecc 9:10 NIV84). Here are some NT advice for how we are to live our daily lives, “Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.†(Eph 5:15-16 NIV84). “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.â€Â (Col 3:23 NIV84) Let’s do what has been given to us to do today.
How does this apply to you?
