Scripture
Eph 2:4-6 ESV But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
Observation
This is a very good summary and essence of why we are saved. Paul starts this passage saying, we “were dead in trespasses and sinsâ€, we were “sons of disobedience†(v.1-2). “But God…â€Â He is the one rich in mercy and loved us with a great love. Though we were dead in our trespasses, he made of alive together with Christ. But not only that, he raised us up and seated us with Christ in the heavenly realm. Why? So that He could display “the immeasurable riches of his grace†toward us. It is all about God and his work of redemption to accomplish his purpose for us. “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.†(v.8-9 ESV). There is “no works we can do to attain to this wonderful salvation, but the result is that we do good works for Him because, “We are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.†(v. 10) We can only thank Jesus for so great a salvation.
How does this apply to you?
