エペソ 2:4-6　（リビングバイブル JCB）　しかし神は、なんとあわれみに満ちたお方でしょう。こんな私たちを深く愛してくださって、 5罪のために霊的に死に果て、滅びる定めにあった私たちを、キリストの復活と共に生かしてくださいました。救われる価値などない私たちに、ただ一方的な恵みが注がれたのです。 6そして、キリストと共に、私たちを墓の中から栄光へと引き上げ、キリストと共に席に着かせてくださいました。

コメント

この箇所では私たちがなぜ救われたのかを簡潔にまとめています。パウロはまず、私たちは「自分の背きと罪の中で死んでいた」（JSS2017）と言って、私たちは「不従順の子ら」として歩んでいたと言いました。「しかし、神は．．．」と宣言しています。「あわれみ豊かな神は、私達を愛してくださったその大きな愛のゆえに、背きの中に死んでいた私たちを、キリストと共に生かしてくださいました」（JSS2017）。しかし、それだけではありません。「神はまた、キリスト・イエスにあって、私たちを共によみがえらせ、ともに天上に座らせてくださいました」（JSS2017）。なぜこんなことをされたのでしょうか？「それは、キリスト・イエスにあって私たちに与えられた慈愛によって、この限りなく豊かな恵みを、来るべき世々に示すためでした」（7節JSS2017）。父なる神が私たちを自慢することができるためです。神様の贖いの働きによって私たちのための目的を果たすことができるためです。「この恵みのゆえに、あなたがたは信仰によって救われたのです。それはあなたがたから出たことではなく、神の賜物です。行いによるのではありません」（8-9節 JSS2017）。このすばらしい救いを得るために私たちがなしえる行いは何一つありません。しかし、救われた結果、私たちは神のために良い行いをすることができるのです。「実に、私たちは神の作品であって、良い行いをするためにキリスト・イエスにあって造られたのです。神は、私たちが良い行いに歩むように、その良い行いをあらかじめ備えてくださいました」（10節 JSS2017）。私たちはただ、ただ、この驚くべき救いをイエス・キリストに感謝するしかありません。

Eph 2:4-6 ESV But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

Observation

This is a very good summary and essence of why we are saved.  Paul starts this passage saying, we “were dead in trespasses and sins”, we were “sons of disobedience” (v.1-2). “But God…”  He is the one rich in mercy and loved us with a great love. Though we were dead in our trespasses, he made of alive together with Christ.  But not only that, he raised us up and seated us with Christ in the heavenly realm.  Why? So that He could display “the immeasurable riches of his grace” toward us.  It is all about God and his work of redemption to accomplish his purpose for us.  “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” (v.8-9 ESV).  There is “no works we can do to attain to this wonderful salvation, but the result is that we do good works for Him because, “We are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (v. 10) We can only thank Jesus for so great a salvation.
