Scripture
Eph 2:13,14,19 ESV But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. 14 For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility. 19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God.
Observation
Throughout Scripture there are two groups of people, God’s chosen people, Israel, who are here referred to as those who are â€close† and the Gentiles (all other peoples) who are “far awayâ€. But no matter how close or far away we are both must be reconciled to God (see v.16-18). That is where Jesus shed blood on the cross comes in and brings us both into restored relationship with the Father God. The result is two-fold, we are reconciled to the Father God, and we are reconciled to one another, those who are “close†and those who are “far away†and we are made into one new man in Christ (see v.15). “This mystery is that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.†(Eph 3:6 ESV) “But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.†(Phil 3:20 ESV)
