エペソ 2:13,14,19（新改訳JSS2017）　しかし、かつては遠く離れていたあなたがたも、今ではキリスト・イエスにあって、キリストの血によって近い者となりました。14 実に、キリストこそ私たちの平和です。キリストは私たち二つのものを一つにし、ご自分の肉において、隔ての壁である敵意を打ち壊（された）。19こういうわけで、あなたがたは、もはや他国人でも寄留者でもなく、聖徒たちと同じ国の民であり、神の家族なのです。

みことばを通して、人類は二つに分類されています: 神の民とそうでない者。イスラエルは神の民として選ばれ、神に「近い」者とされました。そのほかの民は「異邦人」と呼ばれ、神から「遠く」離れている者です。しかし、どんなに近くても、離れていても、大切なのは父なる神と和解されることです（16-18節参照）。それがキリストの十字架の血によって両者を父なる神との正しい関係に回復されたのです。その結果は二重です。まず、父なる神と和解されるのですが、同時に、私たちユダヤ人であれ、異邦人であれが和解されるために、「近く」にいる者も、「遠く」離れている者も共に、一つの新しい人とされるためです（15節参照）。「それは、福音により、キリスト・イエスにあって、異邦人も共同の相続人になり、ともに同じからだに連なって、ともに約束にあずかる者になるということです。」（エペソ3:6 JSS2017; 2:19も参照）。そして、新しい天の国籍が与えられているのです。「しかし、私たちの国籍は天にあります。そこから主イエス・キリストが救い主として来られるのを、私たちは待ち望んでいます」（ピリピ 3:20 JSS2017）。

Eph 2:13,14,19 ESV  But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. 14 For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility.  19  So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God.

Observation

Throughout Scripture there are two groups of people, God’s chosen people, Israel, who are here referred to as those who are ”close”  and the Gentiles (all other peoples) who are “far away”.  But no matter how close or far away we are both must be reconciled to God (see v.16-18).  That is where Jesus shed blood on the cross comes in and brings us both into restored relationship with the Father God.  The result is two-fold, we are reconciled to the Father God, and we are reconciled to one another, those who are “close” and those who are “far away” and we are made into one new man in Christ (see v.15).  “This mystery is that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.” (Eph 3:6 ESV) “But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.” (Phil 3:20 ESV)
