エペソ 5:1-2 （新改訳JSS2017）　ですから、愛されている子どもらしく、神に倣う者となりなさい。2また、愛のうちに歩みなさい。キリストも私たちを愛して、私たちのために、ご自分を神へのささげ物、またいけにえとし、芳ばしい香りを献げてくださいました。

パウロはキリスト者に対して続けて教えています。この箇所では私たちに生き方の原則を与えてくれています。「神に倣う者となりなさい」。WWJDを覚えている方もいると思います（What Would Jesus Do－イエスはどのようにされたでしょう）。私たちは神の子どもであるので、父なる神に似て生きるべきです（また、お兄さんであるイエスのように）。キリストは私たちを愛して、いのちまでささげてくださいました。私たちも同じように生きる時に神の前で「芳しい香り」となるのです。続けてパウロは警告もしています。この世と同じように、私たちの以前の生き方のようには生きてはなりません。「あなたがたの心は以前は暗闇におおわれていましたが、今は主にあって光にあふれています。そのことを態度で示しなさい。 9内面がこの光で輝いているのですから、良いこと、正しいこと、真実なことだけを行うべきです。 10日々、主に喜ばれることは何かを、わきまえ知りなさい」（8－10節 JCB; コロサイ1:13－14も参照）。

Eph 5:1-2 TPT  Be imitators of God in everything you do, for then you will represent your Father as his beloved sons and daughters. 2 And continue to walk surrendered to the extravagant love of Christ, for he surrendered his life as a sacrifice for us. His great love for us was pleasing to God, like an aroma of adoration—a sweet healing fragrance.

Observation

Paul continues instructing how to live as Christ-followers.  Here he gives a guiding principle: “Be imitators of God in everything you do.”  Remember WWJD?  “What would Jesus do in this situation?”  We are children of God and so should act like our Father (and older brother).  Remember how Christ loved us by laying down his life for us.  When we do the same, it is like a pleasing aroma to the Father.  He goes on to warn us not to live like those in the world (see v3-5). “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) 10 and find out what pleases the Lord.” (v.8-10 NIV84; see also Col 1:13-14)
