みことば

箴言 21:2-3 (口語訳)　 人の道は自分の目には正しく見える、しかし主は人の心をはかられる。 3 正義と公平を行うことは、犠牲にもまさって主に喜ばれる。

コメント

誰であれ、自分の道は正しいと思い弁明したいです。「人の目にはまっすぐに見えるが、その終わりが死となる道がある」(箴言16:25 JSS2017)。「自分は真実だという人が多い、しかし、だれが忠信な人に会うであろうか」(箴言20:6口語訳)。だれが、私たちの心を無偏に調べ、評価することができるでしょうか？主なる神のみです。「わたし、主が心を探り、心の奥を試し、それぞれその生き方により、行いの実にしたがって報いる」(エレミヤ 17:10 JSS2017；1サムエル記16:7も参照)。ダビデは自分の心の陰険さを認め、祈りました。「神よ　私を探り　私の心を知ってください。私を調べ　私の思い煩いを知ってください。24私のうちに　傷のついた道があるかないかを見て　私をとこしえの道に導いてください」(詩篇139:23-24 JSS2017)。

Pro 21:2-3 ESV Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the LORD weighs the heart. 3 To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.

Observation

Everyone wants to justify their own ways and deeds. “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.” (Pro 16:25 ESV).  “Many a man proclaims his own steadfast love, but a faithful man who can find?” (Pro 20:6 ESV).  So who can unbiasedly examine and evaluate the heart of any man?  Only the Lord.  “”I the LORD search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.” (Jer 17:10 ESV; also see 1Sam 16:7)  David knew the treacherousness of his own heart and prayed, “Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! 24 And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!” (Psa 139:23-24 ESV).
