今日のことば

箴言 22:17-19 JSS2017　耳を傾けて、知恵のある者たちのことばを聞け。私の知識に心を向けよ。これらをあなたのうちに保つのは楽しいこと。これらをみな、あなたの唇に備えよ。あなたが主に拠り頼むことができるように、私は今日、特にあなたに教える。

これから語られる助言に耳を傾けるくべき知恵のことばですが、さらに、神のことばの全てにも当てはまります。前にも、ソロモンは進めました。「わが子よ、注意して私のことばを聞け。私の言うことに耳を傾けよ。それらを見失うな。自分の心のただ中に保て。それらは、見出す者にとっていのちとなり、全身の癒やしとなるからだ」（箴言4:20-22 JSS2017）。この知恵のことばに耳を傾けない、いのちのことばを聞き入れなければ、大変な結果を招きます。このことばを聞き入れる目的は主により頼むことができるためです。しかし、知恵ある者と愚かな者を区別するためにイエスはもう一つ大切なことを加えました。「わたしの教えを聞いて、そのとおり忠実に実行する人はみな、堅い岩の上に家を建てる賢い人に似ています。 25大雨が降り、大水が押し寄せ、大風が吹きつけても、その家はびくともしません。土台がしっかりしているからです。26反対に、わたしの教えを聞いても、それを無視する人は、砂の上に家を建てる愚かな人に似ています。 27大雨、大水、大風が襲いかかると、その家はあとかたもなく、こわれてしまうからです」（マタイ7:24-27 JCB）。

Pro 22:17-19 NLT  Listen to the words of the wise; apply your heart to my instruction. 18 For it is good to keep these sayings in your heart and always ready on your lips. 19 I am teaching you today—yes, you—so you will trust in the LORD.

Observation

Although this is advice to listen to the words of wisdom that are about to follow, it is also very important challenge to give ear to all of God’s word.  Earlier Solomon also challenged us, “My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. 21 Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart, 22 for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body.” (Pro 4:20-22 NLT) If we don’t listen to words of wisdom and of life, we will suffer the devastating consequences.   The purpose of listening to the Word of God is so that we “will trust in the Lord.” But Jesus told us that there is one more thing even more important that distinguishes between being wise and being foolish.  “Anyone who listens to My teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. 25 Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. 26 But anyone who hears My teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. 27 When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.” (Matt 7:24-27 NLT)
