コロサイ 4:2,3,5,6 （新改訳JSS2017）　たゆみなく祈りなさい。感謝をもって祈りつつ、目を覚ましていなさい。3同時に、私たちのためにも祈ってください。神がみことばのために門を開いてくださって、私たちがキリストの奥義を語れるように祈ってください。この奥義のために、私は牢につながれています。5外部の人たちに対しては、機会を十分に活かし、知恵をもって行動しなさい。6あなたがたのことばが、いつも親切で、塩味の効いたものであるようにしなさい。そうすれば、一人ひとりにどのように答えたらよいかが分かります。

この荒々しい、おぼつかない世界においてどう生きるべきかパウロは進めのことばを与えています。まず祈ることですが、それは「目を覚まして」祈ることです、いわゆる、私たちの周りに何が起きているのか、特にこの時に神の目的と計画は何であるかを認識し心得て祈ることです。そして、全てに感謝の心をもって祈ることです、神が私たちの内に、私たちのために何をしているかを理解し、感謝するのです。さらに、「知恵をもって行動しなさい」（「いつも賢く慎重に接しなさい」　JCB）。また、「あなたがたのことばが、いつも親切で、塩味の効いたものであるようにしなさい。」と勧めています（マタイ5:13-16参照）。揺るぎない人生の土台の希望がある、救いがある、と私たちは人々に伝えなければなりません。そして、「与えられた機会を最大限に生かして」(JCB) 生きなければなりません（時を贖う、買い戻すという言語の意味があります）。今こそ、イエス・キリストにある救いを多くの人々に知らせる時です。

Col 4:2-3,5-6 NIV84  Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. 3 And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. 5 Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. 6 Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

Observation

How do we live in these tempestuous and tenuous times?  Paul gives us some very timely advice.  Pray! But let your prayers be watchful, knowing what is going on especially in light of God’s plan and purposes for this time; and be thankful, that God is at work both in you and through you to accomplish his purposes in you.  The other part is to “Be wise in the way you act,” and “Let your conversation be always full of grace.”  We are to be “salt and light” with our words and actions in our dark and flat world (see Matt 5:13-16).  Let people know there is hope and a salvation that is our unshakeable foundation in life.  Paul tells us, “Make the most of every opportunity”, “Redeem the Time.” AMP says, “making the very most of the time and seizing (buying up) the opportunity.” It is now the time to tell everyone of the wonderful salvation in Jesus Christ.
