箴言 24:33-34（新改訳JSS2017）　少し眠り、少しまどろみ、少し腕を組んで横になる。すると、付きまとう者のように貧しさが、武装した者のように乏しさがやって来る。

コメント

怠けることはどろぼう同様。勤勉さは豊かさをもたらす。このテーマは箴言を通してくりかえし示されています。「怠ければたちまち貧しくなり、一生懸命働けば財産ができます」（箴言10:4 JCB）。「怠け者の心は欲を起こしても何も得ない。勤勉な者の心は豊かに満たされる」（箴言 13:4 JSS2017）。「勤勉な人の計画は利益をもたらし、すべて慌てる者は損失を招くだけだ」（箴言 21:5 JSS2017）。パウロも新約において教えています。「あなたがたのところにいたとき、働きたくない者は食べるな、と私たちは命じました。11ところが、あなたがたの中には、怠惰な歩みをしている人たち、何も仕事をせずにおせっかいばかり焼いている人たちがいると聞いています。12そのような人たちに、主イエス・キリストによって命じ、勧めます。落ち着いて仕事をし、自分で得たパンを食べなさい。13兄弟たち、あなたがたは、たゆまず良い働きをしなさい」（2テサロニケ 3:10-13 JSS2017; マタイ25:14-30も参照）。

Pro 24:33-34 NLT  A little extra sleep, a little more slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest— 34  then poverty will pounce on you like a bandit; scarcity will attack you like an armed robber.

Observation

Laziness is a thief!  Diligence produces wealth. This theme is repeated in Proverbs. “Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth.” (Pro 10:4 NIV84)  “The sluggard craves and gets nothing, but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied.” (Pro 13:4 NIV84)  “The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.” (Pro 21:5 NIV84). But the Paul also says the same in NT. “For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “If a man will not work, he shall not eat.” 11 We hear that some among you are idle. They are not busy; they are busybodies. 12 Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the bread they eat.” (2Thes 3:10-12 NIV84; see also Matt 25:14-30)
