Scripture
Pro 26:13-15 NLT The lazy person claims, “There’s a lion on the road! Yes, I’m sure there’s a lion out there!” 14 As a door turns on its hinges, so a sluggard turns on his bed. 15 The sluggard buries his hand in the dish; he is too lazy to bring it back to his mouth.
Observation
It is easy to come up with excuses when you do not want to do something. But a lazy person makes a habit of making excuses to get out of anything that is inconvenient to him. He has no purpose in life other that to do nothing except what he want to do. He will even come up with absurd excuses that have no basis in reality. “The sluggard craves and gets nothing, but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied.†(Pro 13:4 NIV84) “I went past the field of the sluggard, past the vineyard of the man who lacks judgment; 31 thorns had come up everywhere, the ground was covered with weeds, and the stone wall was in ruins.†(Pro. 24:30-31 NIV84) “A sluggard does not plow in season; so at harvest time he looks but finds nothing.†(Pro 20:4 NIV84). Here is the best advice for a sluggard, “Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise!†(Pro 6:6; see also v.7-11 for the rest of the story, also Matt 25:14-30)
