マルコ 9:10-11（新改訳JSS2017）　彼らはこのことばを胸に納め、死人の中からよみがえると言われたのはどういう意味か、互いに論じ合った。11また弟子たちは、イエスに尋ねた。「なぜ、律法学者たちは、まずエリヤが来るはずだと言っているのですか。」

みことばの中のことや霊的概念や真理など分からないことがあったときどうすればいいのでしょうか？弟子たちは理解力を超えることを目撃したのです。エリヤとモーセがイエスとともに話しているのを見て聞いたのです。おそらく、イエスの十字架、死と復活について話し合っていたかもしれません。これは思いを絶することで、彼らの基準となる関連事実などの関連体系をはるかに超えたことでした。イエスはペテロ、ヤコブとヨハネにこのことについて、よみがえるまでは誰にも話してはならないと厳しく命じました。ゆえに、自分たちの間で話し論じ合いました。私たちはみことばに（また、霊的概念や体験で）分からないこと、理解できないことがあるときにはいくつかしなければならないことがあります。まず、そのことが理解できないからと言ってそれを否定したり、拒んだりはしてはいけません。同じ疑問や葛藤を持っている人たちと話し合ったり、議論することもできます。さらに、様々な質問や問いかけをすることもできます。すぐに答えが出なくても、結論に至らなくてもいいのです。それは理解するための過程と旅を進ませるものです。また、どうしても今理解できないなら、「棚置きにする」（そのまましばらくほっといておく）こともいいでしょう。時には、パズルピースのように今、どこにはまるかが分からなくても、物事が進むにつれて、分かる、理解することができるようになることもあります。弟子たちはイエスのよみがえられた後になって初めてこれら葛藤していたことを理解し始めました。イエスがそのさまざまなピースの関連と関係を説明し、彼らは「死人からの復活」のことが分かるようになり始めました（ルカ24:24-27；使徒の働き1:1-11など参照）。でも、同時に他の疑問や質問が起こってきました。理解することはプロセスです、旅路です。「もっと深い洞察や識別力がほしいなら、なくした銀貨や秘密の宝を捜すように、熱心に求めなさい。そうすれば、主ご自身を知り、すばらしい主の知恵が与えられます。主を信じ敬うことがどんなに大切か　わかります。主が知恵をお授けになるからです。主のことばはどれも知恵の宝庫です」（知恵の泉、箴言 2:3-6; 7-11も参照）。

Observation

What do you do when you do not understand something in Scripture or a spiritual concept (or truth)?  The disciples had just witnessed something that was completely out of their sphere of understanding.  They had seen and heard Jesus talking with Elijah and Moses, most likely discussing Jesus’ crucifixion, death and possibly resurrection.  All of this was beyond their frame of reference and comprehension.  Jesus told Peter, James and John, the three who had experienced this together, to not say anything about it until after he was risen from the dead. So they discussed it among themselves.  When we do not understand something in Scripture (or even a spiritual experience) there are several things we must do.  First, we do not reject it just because we do not understand it at this point.  Then, we can discuss it with others who might have the same questions and struggles.  We can ask questions.  Even if we do not immediately come to the answer or conclusion, it can help us process and move toward understanding.  If we still do not understand it presently, we can put it on the shelf.  Like a puzzle piece, even if we do not understand where it fits now, as we progress, we will eventually come to see and understand how it fits.  It was not until after the resurrection and their encounter with the resurrected Jesus that they began to understand some of these things with which they were now struggling.  Jesus then put all the pieces together and they finally began to understand what “rising from the dead” and other mysteries meant (Luke 24:24-27; Acts 1:1-11), but then they encountered other questions and things they did not immediately understand. Understanding is a process and journey. “Turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding, 3 and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, 4 and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.” (Pro 2:2-5 NIV84; also v. 6-11).
