マルコ 10:32 （新改訳JSS2017）　さて、一行はエルサレムに上る途上にあった。イエスは弟子たちの先に立って行かれた。弟子たちは驚き、ついて行く人たちは恐れを覚えた。すると、イエスは再び十二人をそばに呼んで、ご自分に起ころうとしていることを話し始められた。

イエスはどこに向かっているか、何が待ち受けているのかをはっきりと知っていました。弟子たちも、ついてきていた群衆も分かっていませんでした。彼らは驚いていて、恐れていました。イエスはもう一度弟子たちを呼んで自分に起ころうとしていることをはっきりと説明しました。「ご覧なさい。わたしたちはエルサレムに上って行きます。そして、人の子は、祭司長たちや律法学者たちに引き渡されます。彼らは人の子を死刑に定め、異邦人に引き渡します。異邦人は人の子を嘲り、唾をかけ、むちで打ち、殺します。しかし、人の子は三日後によみがえります」（マルコ10：33-34 JSS2017）。それでも、彼らは理解できませんでした。そして、場所取りと自分の地位をつかもうとしか考えることができませんでした。そこで、イエスは自分の使命と目的をこのようにまとめました。「人の子も、仕えられるためではなく仕えるために、また多くの人のための贖いの代価として、自分のいのちを与えるために来たのです。」ヘブルの著者はこのように私たちを勧めています。「信仰の創始者であり完成者であるイエスから、目を離さないでいなさい。この方は、ご自分の前に置かれた喜びのために、辱めをものともせずに十字架を忍び、神の御座の右に着座されたのです」（へブル　12：2 JSS2017）。何が私たちの前に待ち受けていても、私たちの羊飼いであるイエスはすでに前を行きまた、その道を共に歩みます（詩篇23：3-4参照）。

Observation

Jesus knows where he is going and exactly what is going to happen when he gets there.  The disciples and the crowds following him do not understand.  Jesus takes his disciples aside for a third time and tells them what is going to happen in Jerusalem, “The Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death and deliver him over to the Gentiles. And they will mock him and spit on him, and flog him and kill him. And after three days he will rise.” (v.33-34)  They still do not get it and begin jockeying for position (v.35-41).  Jesus then sums up his mission like this: “The Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (v.45 ESV)  The writer of Hebrews challenges us, “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Heb 12:2 NIV84; see Psa 23:3-4)
