マルコ15:22-23 （新改訳JSS2017）彼らはイエスを、ゴルゴタという所（訳すと、どくろの場所）に連れて行った。彼らは、没薬を混ぜたぶどう酒を与えようとしたが、イエスはお受けにならなかった。

十字架刑の場所はエルサレムの町の外でした。頭蓋骨の形をしていた岩場の丘で、ヘブル語ではゴルゴタと呼ばれ、ラテン語ではカルバリーと呼ばれました（どちらもどくろの意味です）。聖書には「罪の報酬は死です」（ローマ6:23JSS2017）と教えています。しかし、イエスはご自身に罪の処罰を受け取りました。「自らを低くして、死にまで、それも十字架の死にまで従われました」（ピリピ2:8 JSS2017）。私たちの罪の刑罰をすべて引き受けました。「神は、罪を知らない方を私たちのために罪とされました。それは、私たちがこの方にあって神の義となるためです」（2コリント5:21 JSS2017; イザヤ53:4-6; 1ペテロ3:8なども参照）。十字架にかけられた時その痛みと苦しみをすべて受けてくださいました。少しもその痛みを減らそうとしませんでした。鎮痛薬として差し出された、没薬の混ざったぶどう酒でさえ受け取りませんでした。「まことに、彼は私たちの病を負い、私たちの痛みを担った。それなのに、私たちは思った。神に罰せられ、打たれ、苦しめられたのだと。5しかし、彼は私たちの背きのために刺され、私たちの咎のために砕かれたのだ。彼への懲らしめが私たちに平安をもたらし、その打ち傷のゆえに、私たちは癒やされた。10しかし、彼を砕いて病を負わせることは　主のみこころであった。彼が自分のいのちを　代償のささげ物とするなら、末長く子孫を見ることができ、主のみこころは彼によって成し遂げられる。11「彼は自分のたましいの激しい苦しみのあとを見て、満足する。わたしの正しいしもべは、その知識によって多くの人を義とし、彼らの咎を負う。なんと麗しい愛でしょうか？

Mar 15:22-23 AMP  And they led Him to Golgotha [in Latin: Calvary], meaning The Place of a Skull. 23 And they [attempted to] give Him wine mingled with myrrh, but He would not take it.

Observation

The place of crucifixion outside the city of Jerusalem was called The Skull because of its shape.  This was the place of death in the shape of a skull, the symbol of death.  It was called Golgotha in Hebrew and Calvary in Latin which both mean “skull”.  Scripture tells us that “the wages of sin is death” (Rom 6:23 NLT) Jesus took the punishment of our sins upon himself, “He humbled Himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.” (Phil 2:8 NLT) “He suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.” (Heb 2:9 NIV84)  He suffered the full force of the result of our sin.  “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. (2Cor 5:21 NIV84; see also Isa 53:4-6; 1Pet 3:18)  But when he was crucified, he would not even take the mild painkiller (wine with myrrh) to even dull the pain a little.  “Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. 5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. 10  Yet it was the LORD’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the LORD makes his life a guilt offering, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand. 11 After the suffering of his soul, he will see the light of life and be satisfied; by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities.” (Isa 53:4,5,10,11 NIV84) What beautiful love!
