Scripture
Mar 16:5-6 NIV84Â As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed. 6 “Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him.
Observation
When Mary Magdalene and the other women went to the tomb on Sunday morning they were so shocked and amazed that the stone was already rolled away and the tomb was open. When they looked inside, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe (an angel) who told them, “Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here,†even though Jesus had told them ahead of time that he would die and rise again. This was a process to understand and accept that Jesus had risen from the dead. But they needed to hear it.  Sometimes we might be looking for Jesus is all the wrong places. Sometimes we are alarmed, afraid, trembling, and bewildered. We need to hear, “Do not be alarmed. Do not fear.†Jesus has said, “I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.†(Rev 1:18 NIV84) We are also told, “And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.†(Rom 8:38-39 NLT)
