Scripture

Luk 23:14,23-25 NIV84  and said to them, “You brought me this man as one who was inciting the people to rebellion. I have examined him in your presence and have found no basis for your charges against him. 23 But with loud shouts they insistently demanded that he be crucified, and their shouts prevailed. 24 So Pilate decided to grant their demand.  25 He released the man who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, the one they asked for, and surrendered Jesus to their will.

Observation

This is the worst example of twisted and unfair justice. But God was in complete control of everything that was happening and ultimately used it to accomplish his plan and purpose, the redemption and justification of all who believe.  Jesus who lived a perfect and sinless life (who never did anything worthy of judgement and punishment), is condemned to the torturous death of the worst of criminals, the crucifixion.  He even took the place of a violent and hardened criminal who should have received this judgement. But it was not just in place of Barabbas but in the place of each of us, of every man who has ever lived.  “For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in and through Him we might become [endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness].â€Â  (2Cor 5:21 AMP; see also1Cor 1:30; Rom 4:25)

How does this apply to you?
