１列王記 8:17-18,21（新改訳JSS2017）　それで私の父ダビデの心にはいつも、イスラエルの神、主の御名のために家を建てたいという思いがあった。18ところが主は、私の父ダビデにこう言われた。『あなたの心にはいつも、わたしの名のために家を建てたいという思いがあった。その思いがあなたの心にあったことは、良いことである。21主の契約が納められている箱のために、そこに場所を設けた。その契約は、主が私たちの先祖をエジプトの地から導き出されたときに、彼らと結ばれたものである。」

コメント

ソロモン王は主のための宮を建てるのを完成させました。ダビデ王は主のために宮を建てることを心にありましたが、主はその息子がそれを建てると言われました。ソロモンは主は約束を守られる神であることだけではなく、もっと重要なのは契約の神であることを認めました。神はシナイ山においてイスラエルに律法の契約を与えましたが、その契約はさらに以前に与えられたアブラハムへの契約に基づいていました。神はアブラハムの子孫を国とすることを約束し、契約を与えました（創世記12:1-3参照）。ダビデはこれを「永遠の契約」とも言われました。「まことに私の家は、このように神とともにある。神が永遠の契約を私と立てられたからだ。それは、すべてのことにおいて備えられ、また守られる。神は、私の救いと願いを、すべて育んでくださるではないか」（1サムエル記 23:5　JSS2017）。神はその契約に基づいて約束を守られ必ず成し遂げられます（イザヤ55:3参照）。私たちもイエス・キリストによって、この契約とその約束に含まれています。「そのころは、キリストから遠く離れ、イスラエルの民から除外され、約束の契約については他国人で、この世にあって望みもなく、神もない者たちでした。しかし、かつては遠く離れていたあなたがたも、今ではキリスト・イエスにあって、キリストの血によって近い者となりました」（エペソ　2:12-13 JSS2017）。

1Ki 8:17,18,21 (NIV84) “My father David had it in his heart to build a temple for the Name of the LORD, the God of Israel. 18  But the LORD said to my father David, ‘Because it was in your heart to build a temple for my Name, you did well to have this in your heart. 21 I have provided a place there for the ark, in which is the covenant of the LORD that he made with our fathers when he brought them out of Egypt.”

Observation

Solomon has completed the Temple he built for the Lord.  David had it in his heart to build this temple for the Lord but God said that his son would be the one to build it.  Solomon acknowledges that God keeps his promises but even more than important is that He is a God of covenant.  God had given Israel the covenant of the Law which was what God would require of his people, but the covenant of God goes way back father than Mt. Sinai and the Law, it goes back to Abraham and his promise to make his descendants into a nation.  David called it an “everlasting covenant” “Is not my house right with God? Has he not made with me an everlasting covenant, arranged and secured in every part? Will he not bring to fruition my salvation and grant me my every desire?” (2Sam 23:5 NIV84) God keeps his promises because they are based on his covenant which he is bound to keep (see Isa 55:3) We have also been included in this covenant and promises by Jesus Christ. “Remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.”  (Eph 2:12-13 NIV84).
