１列王記 8:41-43 （新改訳JSS2017）　同様に、あなたの民イスラエルの者でない異国人についても、その人があなたの御名のゆえに、遠方の地から来て、42彼らが、あなたの大いなる御名と力強い御手と伸ばされた御腕について聞き、やって来てこの宮に向かって祈るなら、43あなたご自身が、あなたの御座が据えられた場所である天でこれを聞き、その異国人があなたに向かって願うことをすべて、かなえてください。そうすれば、地上のあらゆる民が御名を知り、あなたの民イスラエルと同じようにあなたを恐れるようになり、私が建てたこの宮で御名が呼び求められなければならないことを知るでしょう。

コメント

ソロモンはご自分の民に対してだけではなく、外国人（イスラエル人ではない方）に対する神の心をあらわしています。ソロモンが建てたこの宮は祈りの所であり、だれであれそこに来て、または、その場所に向かって、祈ることができるためのものでありました。そして神は聞いて答える方であります。「この宮、すなわち『わたしの名をそこに置く』とあなたが言われたこの場所に、夜も昼も御目を開き、あなたのしもべがこの場所に向かってささげる祈りを聞いてください。あなたのしもべとあなたの民イスラエルが、この場所に向かってささげる願いを聞いてください。あなたご自身が、あなたの御住まいの場所、天においてこれを聞いてください」（29-30節 JSS2017）。主なる神はご自分の民の祈りを聞かれるだけではなく、主の御名を呼び求めるすべての人の祈りを聞き答えられます。「主の御名を呼び求める者はみな救われる」（ローマ10:13 JSS2017; ヨエル 2:32; 使徒の働き 2:21も参照）。主が祈りを聞いて答えられるのはすべての人々が主はいかなるお方であるかを知り、驚き、主を信じるためです。祈って、その祈りが答えられることによって、他の人々に神の善と福音を知ることができるためです。祈ること、また人のために祈ることはちゅうちょしてはいけません。

1Ki 8:41-43 NIV84  “As for the foreigner who does not belong to your people Israel but has come from a distant land because of your name— 42 for men will hear of your great name and your mighty hand and your outstretched arm—when he comes and prays toward this temple, 43 then hear from heaven, your dwelling place, and do whatever the foreigner asks of you, so that all the peoples of the earth may know your name and fear you, as do your own people Israel, and may know that this house I have built bears your Name.

Observation

Solomon is reflecting God’s heart not only for the people of Israel but for the foreigner (non-Israelites.)  This temple Solomon has built is to be a place of prayer where anyone could come to or pray towards, and God would hear and answer.  “May your eyes be open toward this temple night and day, this place of which you said, ‘My Name shall be there,’ so that you will hear the prayer your servant prays toward this place. 30 Hear the supplication of your servant and of your people Israel when they pray toward this place.” (v. 29-30 NIV84).  God hears and answers prayer not only for his own people but for anyone who would call on the name of the Lord. “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Rom 10:13 NIV84; see Joel 2:32; Acts 2:21 also).  One of the reasons He answers our prayers and anyone who calls on him, is that all would come to know who He is and to be amazed at what he does.  Prayer and answer to prayer is one of the greatest ways to share the goodness and Gospel of God with others.  Never hesitate to pray for and with others.
