1列王記 9:10-13 （新改訳JSS2017）　ソロモンが主の宮と王宮との二つの家を二十年かけて建て終えたとき、11ツロの王ヒラムが、ソロモンの要請に応じて、杉の木材、もみの木材、および金を用立てたので、ソロモン王はガリラヤ地方の二十の町をヒラムに与えた。12ヒラムはツロからやって来て、ソロモンが彼に与えた町々を見たが、彼はそれらが気に入らなかった。

コメント

ソロモンの心が主から、主の前に正しく歩むことから離れ始めていることがここでほのめかされています。ソロモンは多くの富を集め始めて、心がけちけちになり始めました。ヒラム王はソロモンの神殿と宮殿の建設プロジェクトに多くの豪華な建築材料を備えてあげました。その見返りにケチったお礼をおくりました。読み進めていきますとソロモンはすでにこの時に主が王に禁じられていたことをし始めていました（申命記 17:14-20参照）。ソロモンは異国の妻をエジプトから迎えました。後に分かるように、これは偶像礼拝とほかの神々に仕える道に進ませ始めました。また、多くの建築事業を起こしましたが、そのために税金と徴兵をし始めました。これは最終的に息子の時代に反逆を起こさせました（1列王記12:4参照）。馬と戦車を増やし始めて、その為に馬小屋や戦車の車庫なども建てました（19節参照）。また、多くの金をも集めました（28節参照）。イスラエルに王が立てられるときにこれらのものを増やしてはならないと主は警告しました。（申命記 17:16-17参照）。なぜなら、これらのものによって、「こころがそれることがあってはならない」からです（申命記　17:17 JSS2017）。しかし、ソロモンは自分の知恵の助言からも逸れました。「何よりも、あなたの心を守りなさい。心は生活全体に影響を与えるからです」（箴言 知恵の泉 4:23；マタイ6:33; コロサイ3:1-2も参照）。

1Ki 9:10-12 NIV84  At the end of twenty years, during which Solomon built these two buildings—the temple of the LORD and the royal palace—11 King Solomon gave twenty towns in Galilee to Hiram king of Tyre, because Hiram had supplied him with all the cedar and pine and gold he wanted. 12 But when Hiram went from Tyre to see the towns that Solomon had given him, he was not pleased with them.

Observation

Hints of Solomon’s heart turning from the Lord and not walking to please the Lord begin to show up. In the accumulation of wealth, Solomon’s heart begins to turn stingy. King Hiram had given generously and freely to the building of Solomon’s temple and palace.  Evidently Solomon’s expression of appreciation was very ungenerous and miserly.  As we read on, we see Solomon began doing things that the Lord had specifically forbidden the kings of Israel to do (see Deut 17:14-20).  Solomon married a daughter of Pharoah of Egypt which as we will see begins to bring in idolatry and the worship of foreign gods.  Also, Solomon was very ambitious, he began to tax and conscript the Israelites which eventually caused them to rebel against his son Rehoboam (see 1Kings 12:4).  He begins to multiply horses and chariots and built stables for them (see v.19) He also accumulated much gold. (The Lord specifically warned the kings of Israel not to acquire horses, wives and gold, (see Deut 17:16-17); the vary things which Solomon began to do;).  The warning is “his heart will be led astray” (Deut 17:17).  Solomon did not follow his own advice of wisdom: “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.” (Pro 4:23 NLT; see also Matt 6:33; Col 3:1-2).
