1列王記 15:11,14 （新改訳JSS2017）　アサは父祖ダビデのように、主の目にかなうことを行った。14 高き所は取り除かれなかったが、アサの心は生涯、主とともにあり、全きものであった。

コメント

ユダのすべての王は「父祖ダビデ」と比べて評価されました。アサはソロモンの曾孫でした。しかし、初めて、「父祖ダビデのように、主の目にかなうことを行った。」と言われました。彼は多くの正しい決断をし、正しい道を選んで歩みました（12-15節参照）。しかし、彼も、良くない選択や、決断もしました。後の世代にまで、影響を及ぼしました（18,23節 、2歴代誌16:12参照）。すべてのところで、すべての分野において、主を求める、神のみことばと心に基づいて決断をし、主に従わなければなりません（エレミヤ29:11-14;　マタイ6:33なども参照）。

1Ki 15:11,14  Asa did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, as his father David had done. 14 Although he did not remove the high places, Asa’s heart was fully committed to the LORD all his life.

Observation

All of the Kings of Judah are judged by being compared to King David and his heart after God.  Asa was the great-grandson of Solomon.  He is the first one that the scriptures say that he did “what was right in the eyes of the Lord, as his father David had done.”  He made many wise choices, removed many “male shrine prostitutes” (homosexual prostitutes) destroyed the idols throughout the land, removed Maacah from the position of queen mother (Maacah was Rehoboam’s wife and Abijah’s mother, she was also the daughter of Absolom, David’s son who rebelled against him.) But he also made decisions that  were not good and sowed seeds of defeat and strife for many years and generations after him. He used all the gold and silver from the temple to make a treaty with King of Aram (Syria, Damascus) which plagued and troubled Israel and Judah for many years to come. In his old years, he had a disease in his feet but refused to go to the Lord for healing (see 2Chro 16:12). Let us seek the Lord with all our heart and in every area of our lives (see Jer 29:11-14).
