1列王記 22:5-7　（リビングバイブルJCB）　5まず、主にお伺いを立ててみようではありませんか。」　6そこでアハブ王は、四百人の預言者を召集し、「ラモテ・ギルアデに攻め入るべきか、それともやめるべきか」と尋ねました。彼らは異口同音に、「攻め上りなさい。主が王を助けて、ラモテ・ギルアデを占領させてくださいます」と答えました。 7ところが、ヨシャパテは満足せずに、「ここには神の預言者がいないのですか。神の預言者にも聞いてみたいのです」と言いました。

コメント

この話を読むときにいくつかの警告ランプがつきます。なぜヨシャパテはアハブと仲のいい仲間となるのでしょうか（後に家族を結ぶ結婚関係にまで進みます。 ２歴代誌 21:5-6参照）？また、自分もユダの軍事力もアハブと結束を結びます（４節参照）。しかし、ヨシャパテは知恵も働かせました。主なる神のことばと導きをうかがうことを求めました。アハブは400人の預言者たちを集めました（エリヤは400のバアルの預言者たちを殺しましたが、この人たちは何物でしたでしょうか）。彼らは声を合わせて言いました。「攻め上りなさい。主が王を助けて、ラモテ・ギルアデを占領させてくださいます。」でも、ヨシャパテは確かな主のことばを聞いて確かめたいと言いました。主のことばを聞きたいと願うときは、自分が聞きたいことばを求めやすいです。しかし、願っていることに反していても本当に主の真理のことばを聞きたいのでしょうか？自分の思いを確認する声を聞こうとしたら、それにあった声もあるでしょう。時には過半数の声でもあるかもしれません。しかし、主は本当に何と言っているのでしょうか？私たちは主の声、真理のことばを聞き分ける耳と心がなければなりません（エゼキエル　14:9-10も参照）。真理のことばのみ聞き従う心がなければ、だまされやすいです（２テサロニケ2:9-12；詩篇52:3-4も参照）。真理を聞き分ける耳と心を育てなければなりません（1ヨハネ4:6参照）。

1Ki 22:5-7 NLT  Then Jehoshaphat added, “But first let’s find out what the LORD says.” 6 So the king of Israel summoned the prophets, about 400 of them, and asked them, “Should I go to war against Ramoth-gilead, or should I hold back?” They all replied, “Yes, go right ahead! The Lord will give the king victory.” 7 But Jehoshaphat asked, “Is there not also a prophet of the LORD here? We should ask him the same question.”

Observation

Several red flags pop up as we read this story.  Why is Jehoshaphat getting friendly with Ahab (eventually he even joins their families in marriage; see 2Chro 21:5-6)?  He even commits himself and his army to the cause of Ahab (see v.4).  Jehoshaphat is wise in wanting to get wisdom and direction from the Lord.  Ahab brings in 400 prophets (who were these prophets, since Elijah has killed the 400 prophets of Baal?)  They all agree and say the same thing.  “Yes, go right ahead!  The Lord will give the king victory.”  But Jehoshaphat wanted to make sure they were getting a true word from the Lord.  In seeking the Lord, it is easy to give ear to the things we want to hear.  But do we really want to hear what the Lord says, even if it goes against what we want to do?  If we are just looking for confirmation for what we want to do, there will always be voices that will agree, and sometimes those voices may even be in the majority.  But what is the Lord really saying?  We must have ears and discernment to hear and recognize his voice. “‘And if a prophet is deceived into giving a message, it is because I, the LORD, have deceived that prophet. I will lift My fist against such prophets and cut them off from the community of Israel. 10 False prophets and those who seek their guidance will all be punished for their sins.” (Ezek 14:9-10 NLT). If we do not have a heart and desire only for the truth, it will be very easy to be deceived (see 2Thes 2:9-12; Psa 52:3-4) We must develop an ear to hear and discern the truth (see 1John 4:6).
