1列王記 22:34−35（新改訳 JSS2017) そのとき、ある一人の兵士が何気なく弓を引くと、イスラエルの王の胸当てと草摺の間を射抜いた。王は自分の戦車の御者に言った。「手綱を返して、私を陣営から出させてくれ。傷を負ってしまったから。」その日、戦いは激しくなった。王はアラムに向かって、戦車の中で立っていたが、夕方になって死んだ。傷から出た血が戦車のくぼみに流れた。

コメント

全く偶然と思えるこの出来事は実は、神ご自身が詳細まで見守り導いていたのです。主なる神はマクロにもミクロにも主権者です。神の目を逃れる小さなこともありません。名も知られない、ある一人の兵士が何気なく弓を引いて矢を射ったところ、主はその矢を導きアハブのよろいの胸当てと草摺の間を射抜いた。見事です。この傷のゆえにアハブは出血して夕方には死にました。まさにミカヤのことばの通り実現しました(19-23節参照）。またエリヤの預言も成就しました。ナボテの血を犬がなめたところでアハブの血もなめられる(38節と19:21を参照）。神はか必ずご自分のことばを見守り成就します（エレミヤ1:12参照）。同じように主は私たちのための主の約束とご計画を見守られます。イエスはこのように言いました。「二羽の雀は一アサリオンで売られているではありませんか。そんな雀の一羽でさえ、あなたがたの父の許しなしに地に落ちることはありません。あなたがたの髪の毛さえも、すべて数えられています。ですから恐れてはいけません。あなたがたは多くの雀よりも価値があるのです」（マタイ10:29−31 JSS2017）。アハブの悪と悔い改めない心のゆえに神はさばきのことばを成就しました。しかし、同じように主は私たちに対する良い計画と約束のことばを成就します（エレミヤ29:11-13参照）。

1Kings 22:34-35 ESV But a certain man drew his bow at random and struck the king of Israel between the scale armor and the breastplate. Therefore he said to the driver of his chariot, “Turn around and carry me out of the battle, for I am wounded.” 35 And the battle continued that day, and the king was propped up in his chariot facing the Syrians, until at evening he died. And the blood of the wound flowed into the bottom of the chariot.

Observation

What seems like a random action is actually God’s intricate directing of details.  He is the Sovereign God of the macro and the micro.  There is nothing that escapes His Sovereign watchful care. He guided a randomly shot arrow to strike and pierce right in-between the scales of the armour and breastplate.  This wound ultimately caused Ahab to bleed to death and fulfill the word of the prophet Micaiah which he had spoken before going to war (see v.19-23). Also Elijah’s prophecy is also fulfilled that dogs would lick Ahab’s blood at the same place where they licked Naboth’s blood (see v.38 and 19:21). God watches over his word to perform it (see Jer 1:12).  In the same way God also watches over us to fulfill his promises and plans. Jesus said it this way, “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.” (Matt 10:29-31 ESV).  Because of Ahab’s wickedness and ultimate unrepentant God fulfilled his word of judgement against him.  But God is also faithful to watch over us and fulfill his plan and purpose for us to do us good when we seek Him and His ways (see Jer 29:11-13).
