２ペテロ 1:3-4（新改訳 JSS2017）　私たちをご自身の栄光と栄誉によって召してくださった神を、私たちが知ったことにより、主イエスの、神としての御力は、いのちと敬虔をもたらすすべてのものを、私たちに与えました。4その栄光と栄誉を通して、尊く大いなる約束が私たちに与えられています。それは、その約束によってあなたがたが、欲望がもたらすこの世の腐敗を免れ、神のご性質にあずかる者となるためです。

コメント

ペテロは私たちに対する神の御計画と目的をまとめ、いかにこれを実現するかを教えています。私たちを「神の御性質にあずかる者」としてくださっているのです。イエスは超自然的な処女降誕によってこの神の御性質を受けてあずかる者とされました。そして、私たちにも同じものを与えてくださるために来られました。ヨハネはこのように言いました。「しかし、この方を受け入れた人々、すなわち、その名を信じた人々には、神の子どもとなる特権をお与えになった。4この人々は、血によってではなく、肉の望むところでも人の意志によってでもなく、ただ、神によって生まれたのである」（ヨハネ1:12-13 JSS2017）。これを実現させるために神は私たちに「尊く大いなる約束」を与えてくださいました。しかし、わたくしたちは信仰によってこれらの約束を取得しなければなりません。これはプロセス（過程）であり、私たちの参加と協力が必要です。その為に私たちの信仰に次のものを加えなければならないと言っています。徳、知識、自制、忍耐、信心、兄弟愛、愛（アガペ）を加えて実施しなければなりません（5-7節参照）。使徒ヨハネもまたこのように言いました。「愛する者たち、私たちは今すでに神の子どもです。やがてどのようになるのか、まだ明らかにされていません。しかし、私たちは、キリストが現れたときに、キリストに似た者になることは知っています。キリストをありのままに見るからです。キリストにこの望みを置いている者はみな、キリストが清い方であるように、自分を清くします（１ヨハネ3:2-3 JSS2017）。ゴールに目をとめましょう（ピリピ1:6も参照）。

2Pe 1:3-4 ESV  His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, 4 by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.

Observation

Peter summarizes what God’s plan and purpose is for us and then how he is going to accomplish it.  He is making us to become “partakers (participators) of the divine nature”.  Jesus had the divine nature by his supernatural virgin birth, and he came to give us the same. John explains it this way, “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.” (John 1:12-13 ESV)  To accomplish this Peter tells us that our God and Savior Jesus Christ has given us his “precious and very great promises” which we lay hold of by faith. But it is also a process by which he actuates his work in us and it requires our participation by adding to our faith, virtue, knowledge (intellect), self-control, steadfastness, godliness, brotherly affection and love (see v. 5-7). The Apostle John once again describes the process this way, “Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. 3 And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.” (1John 3:2 ESV) Let’s keep our eyes on the goal.
