オバデヤ1:15,17,21（新改訳JSS2017）　なぜなら、主の日が すべての国々に近づいているからだ。おまえは、自分がしたように、自分にもされる。おまえの報いは、おまえの頭上に返る。17 しかし、シオンの山には、逃れの者がいるようになる。そこは聖となり、ヤコブの家は自分の領地を所有するようになる。21救う者たちは、エサウの山をさばくため、シオンの山に上る。こうして、王国は主のものとなる。

コメント

「主の日」とは、聖書を通して主な課題の一つです。神の国の最終的成就と完成を指し、それに対する攻撃と争いが止むことを指している。「主の訪れの日」、「主の怒りの日」、「主の大いなる日」、「終わりの日」などとも引用されています。旧約において主に暗い、恐るべき日として言及されていますが、新約において、希望と喜びと勝利の要素も含まれています。最終的にはキリストの来臨の日であり、父なる神の栄光に包まれて来られる時を言っています。それは主を拒む者にはさばきと滅びの日でありますが、主を信じ信頼している者に対して救いと報いの時となります。人類の歴史の中で、くりかえし、「主の日」が訪れていますが、最終的にはこの地上において神の国の完全な到来と成就を意味し、神の計画と目的の完成を指しています。イザヤはその時のことをこのように描かれています。「終わりの日に、主の家の山は山々の頂に堅く立ち、もろもろの丘より高くそびえ立つ。そこにすべての国々が流れて来る。3多くの民族が来て言う。「さあ、主の山、ヤコブの神の家に上ろう。主はご自分の道を私たちに教えてくださる。私たちはその道筋を進もう。」それは、シオンからみおしえが、エルサレムから主のことばが出るからだ。4主は国々の間をさばき、多くの民族に判決を下す。彼らはその剣を鋤に、その槍を鎌に打ち直す。国は国に向かって剣を上げず、もう戦うことを学ばない。5ヤコブの家よ、さあ、私たちも主の光のうちを歩もう」（イザヤ2:2-5 JSS2017）。これらをどのように私たちに適用されるのでしょうか？「あなたがたのうちに良い働きを始められた神は、必ずそれを恵みのうちに成長させ、やがてキリスト・イエスが帰って来られる日までに、それを完成してくださると、私は堅く信じています」（ピリピ1:6 JCB）。

Oba 1:15,17,21 ESV  For the day of the LORD is near upon all the nations. As you have done, it shall be done to you; your deeds shall return on your own head. 17  But in Mount Zion there shall be those who escape, and it shall be holy, and the house of Jacob shall possess their own possessions. 21  Saviors shall go up to Mount Zion to rule Mount Esau, and the kingdom shall be the LORD’s.

Observation

“The Day of the Lord” is a major theme throughout all of Scripture. In the OT “It denotes the consummation of the kingdom of God and the cessation of all attacks upon it.” (ISBE) Also referred to as “day of visitation”, “day of wrath”, “great day of the Lord” and mostly is dark and foreboding. However, in the NT there are also “elements of hope and joy and victory…it is eminently the day of Christ and the day of His coming in the glory of the father.” (ISBE)  It is a day of judgement and destruction for those who reject the Lord, but a day of salvation and reward for those who trust in the Lord.  There are many “days of the Lord” throughout history but ultimately points toward the final day of the return of the Lord Jesus in power, glory, judgment and revelation of the consummation of all his plan and purpose for the earth and the ultimate fulfillment of the Kingdom of God here in earth. Here is one picture of that time, “In the last days the mountain of the LORD’s temple will be established as chief among the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and all nations will stream to it. 3 Many peoples will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths.” The law will go out from Zion, the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. 4 He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. 5 Come, O house of Jacob, let us walk in the light of the LORD.” (Isa 2:2-5 NIV84; See Rev 11:15; 2Tim 4:8) How does this apply to us?  “And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue His work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” (Phil 1:6 NLT)
