２列王記 1:3（リビングバイブルJCB）　ところが、主の使いが預言者エリヤにこう告げたのです。「さあ、王の使者に会い、次のように言いなさい。『イスラエルには神がいないとでもいうのか。わざわざエクロンの神バアル・ゼブブに、王が治るかどうか伺いを立てるとは。

アハブ王は死に（１列王記 22:37参照）、息子アハズヤが即位し王となりました（明らかにエゼベル女王の子）、そしてバアル崇拝をつづけました（１列王記 22:53参照）。しかし、大変な事故に会い、ひどいけがを負いました（2節参照）。これは死に至るけがであるかをうかがうためにペリシテ人の町エクロンにあるバアル・ゼブブ（新約ではベルぜブルとも知られる）神に伺いを立てるために使者を送りました（神託としても知られていたようです）。これまでにイスラエルは主なる神に背を向けて、堕落していたことが分かります。主なる神はイスラエルに明確に他の神々や占い師などを求めてはならないことを命じていました。「霊媒や口寄せに頼って心を惑わせてはならない」（レビ記 19:31 JCB）。「わたしの代わりに霊媒や口寄せなどに頼る者からもわたしは顔をそむけ、イスラエルから断つ。 7だから、自分をきよめて聖なる者になりなさい。わたしはあなたがたの神、主だからだ」（レビ記20:6-7　JCB）。主なる神以外の偽りの神々や霊などは惑わしの霊であり、最終的にだますものです（ヨハネ8:44；黙示録21:8など参照）。主なる神は語る神、啓示の神であり、必要のことを、必要な時に告げてくださいます（エレミヤ29:11-13；イザヤ46:10など参照）。真理そのものであるイエスを求めて、従いましょう。イエス・キリストのことば「わたしは道であり、真理であり、いのちです」（ヨハネ14:6）。そして、私たちを導く真理の御霊を与えてくださっています（ヨハネ16:13なども参照）。

Observation

King Ahab has died (see 1Kings 22:37) and his son Ahaziah (obviously a son of Jezebel) now sits on the throne of Israel but he served and worshipped Baal (see 1Kings 22:53).   He has a terrible accident, falling through the latticework of an upper room of the palace.  Being seriously injured, he wants to know whether he will recover from his injuries and sends servants to inquire of a god of the Philistines called Baalzebub, evidently know as giving oracles. This shows just how far Israel has fallen and turned from the Lord God of Israel.  The Lord was very clear that Israel should never seek after or consult any other than the Lord God of Israel. “Do not defile yourselves by turning to mediums or to those who consult the spirits of the dead. I am the LORD your God.” (Lev 19:31 NLT)  “I will also turn against those who commit spiritual prostitution by putting their trust in mediums or in those who consult the spirits of the dead. I will cut them off from the community. 7 So set yourselves apart to be holy, for I am the LORD your God.” (Lev 20:6-7 NLT)  Anything spoken by false gods and spirits other than the Lord God, is ultimately a lying spirit and the only purpose is to deceive and lead astray (see John 8:44; Rev 21:8 etc.).  The Lord will give us everything we need to know about the future if we will seek him (see Jer 29:11-13; Isa 46:10 etc.). Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.”(John 14:6).  And he has given us the Spirit of Truth to lead and guide us. (see John 16:13)
