２列王記 9:36-37 （新改訳JSS2017）　帰って来てエフーにこのことを知らせた。するとエフーは言った。「これは、主がそのしもべティシュベ人エリヤによって語られたことばのとおりだ。『イズレエルの地所で犬がイゼベルの肉を食らい、イゼベルの死体は、イズレエルの地所で畑の上にまかれた肥やしのようになり、だれもこれがイゼベルだと言えなくなる。』」

コメント

エフ―は主のことばが完全に成就させるまで止まりませんでした。アハブの息子、イスラエルの王ヨラムを殺してから、ユダの王アハズヤ（アハブとイゼベルの娘アタルヤの息子）を追い、致命傷を追わせましたが、メギドまで逃れて死にました。そこで、エフーはイズレエルの宮殿へ行き、イゼベル女王を宮廷の窓から投げ落とさせ、その死体を戦車でひかれました。その血は宮殿の壁にかかり、犬たちがその死体を食い尽くしました。残されたのは頭蓋骨と、両手と両足だけでした。残酷ながら、これが主のことばによって、アハブとイゼベルの終わりとなると言われた通りです（１列王記 21:20-24参照）。彼ら自身の悪のゆえだけでなく、イスラエイルの民をもその悪の道に導き入れた結末でした。神は最終的には必ず正しいさばきを成し遂げられます。「主を待ち望め。主の道を守れ。主はあなたを高く上げ 地を受け継がせてくださる。あなたは悪しき者どもが断ち切られるのを見る。35私は悪しき者の横暴を見た。彼は野生の木のようにはびこっていた。36だが　彼は過ぎ去った。見よ　彼はもういない。私は捜したが　見つからなかった」（詩篇 37:34-36 JSS2017）。主イエスが戻られるときには全ての悪をさばき、滅ぼしつくします（黙示録19:11-21参照）。黙示録では主イエスは白い馬の乗り手とされています。「「確かで真実な方」と呼ばれ、義をもってさばき、戦いをされる」（11節）。「その方は血に染まった衣をまとい、その名は「神のことば」と呼ばれていた。天の軍勢は白くきよい亜麻布を着て、白い馬に乗って彼に従っていた。この方の口からは、諸国の民を打つために鋭い剣が出ていた。鉄の杖で彼らを牧するのは、この方である。また、全能者なる神の激しい憤りのぶどうの踏み場を踏まれるのは、この方である」（黙示録19:13-15 JSS2017; 詩篇2篇も参照）。伝道者の書にはこのように宣言されています。「私はさらに日の下で、さばきの場に不正があり、正義の場に不正があるのを見た。私は心の中で言った。「神は正しい人も悪しき者もさばく。そこでは、すべての営みと　すべてのわざに、時があるからだ」（伝道者の書 3:16-17 JSS2017）。

2Ki 9:36-37 NIV84  They went back and told Jehu, who said, “This is the word of the LORD that he spoke through his servant Elijah the Tishbite: On the plot of ground at Jezreel dogs will devour Jezebel’s flesh. 37 Jezebel’s body will be like refuse on the ground in the plot at Jezreel, so that no one will be able to say, ‘This is Jezebel.'”

Observation

Jehu does not stop until the job is finished.  After killing Joram, son of Ahab and king  of Israel, he turns on Ahaziah, king of Judah but whose mother is Athalia, daughter of Ahab and Jezebel. Ahaziah escapes wounded but dies in Megiddo. Then Jehu goes to Jezreel where the royal palace is and has Jezebel thrown from the window of the palace.  Her blood splatters on the palace wall and the horses trample her, but then the dogs devour her.  This was all exactly as Elijah had prophesied of Ahab’s family and of Jezebel (see 1Kings 21:20-24). As gory and grizzly as this is, it is the end that the Lord declared over Ahab and Jezebel for not only their own wickedness but for leading the people of Israel into gross idolatry and perversion.  God will have the final judgment.  “Wait for the LORD and keep his way. He will exalt you to inherit the land; when the wicked are cut off, you will see it. 35 I have seen a wicked and ruthless man flourishing like a green tree in its native soil, 36 but he soon passed away and was no more; though I looked for him, he could not be found.” (Psa 37:34-36 NIV84).  When the Lord Jesus returns, he will judge and destroy all evil and wickedness (see Rev 19:11-21) He is described as rider of the White Horse who is called, “Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war.”  “13 He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. 14 The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. 15 Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter.” He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty.”  (Rev 19:13-15 NIV; see also Psa 2) “And I saw something else under the sun: In the place of judgment—wickedness was there, in the place of justice—wickedness was there. 17 I thought in my heart, “God will bring to judgment both the righteous and the wicked, for there will be a time for every activity, a time for every deed.” (Ecc 3:16-17 NIV84)
