２列王記 17:27-28（新改訳JSS2017）　そこで、アッシリアの王は次のように命じた。「おまえたちがそこから捕らえ移した祭司の一人を、そこに連れて行け。行かせて、そこに住まわせ、その土地の神についての慣わしを教えさせよ。」28 こうして、サマリアから捕らえ移された祭司の一人が来てベテルに住み、どのようにして主を礼拝するべきかを教えた。

コメント

これがサマリヤ人のルーツと始まりです。彼らはアッシリア王によって連れてこられた様々な民族から成り立つ混血の人種となりました。それぞれの人々は自分たちの神々と偶像を持ってきましたが（27-33節参照）、イスラエルの祭司によってイスラエルの神についても教えられました（レビ族の祭司であったかは定かではありませんが、金の子牛崇拝に大きく影響をうけていたものではあったでしょう）。この宗教的寄せ集めと混合の中にあっても、神は真理の火種をも残されました（どの文化や社会の中にあっても神への真理が少なからず、何かあるのです）。イエスはこのサマリヤ人であっても愛し、彼らのためにもメシヤとして来られたことを明らかにされました。井戸のそばでイエスはサマリヤの女に言いました。「女の人よ、わたしを信じなさい。この山でもなく、エルサレムでもないところで、あなたがたが父を礼拝する時が来ます。22救いはユダヤ人から出るのですから、わたしたちは知って礼拝していますが、あなたがたは知らないで礼拝しています。23しかし、まことの礼拝者たちが、御霊と真理によって父を礼拝する時が来ます。今がその時です。父はそのような人たちを、ご自分を礼拝する者として求めておられるのです。24神は霊ですから、神を礼拝する人は、御霊と真理によって礼拝しなければなりません」（ヨハネ4:21-24 JSS2017）。イエスはまた自称しました。「わたしが道であり、真理であり、いのちなのです。」そして、言いました。「わたしを通してでなければ、だれも父のみもとに行くことはできません」（ヨハネ14:6 JSS2017）。神はすべての文化や社会の中に真理の火種を蒔いています。しかし、父なる神への道は一つしかありません。イエスは私たちに唯一の真の神、創造主、贖い主なる神へ立ち返るための道を開き、示し、導いてくれます（へブル4:16; 10:19-22も参照）。

2Ki 17:27-28 ESV  Then the king of Assyria commanded, “Send there one of the priests whom you carried away from there, and let him go and dwell there and teach them the law of the god of the land.” 28  So one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and lived in Bethel and taught them how they should fear the LORD.

Observation

This is the beginning of what came to be known as the Samaritans.  They were a mixed group of people from many peoples brought in by the king of Assyria to repopulate the northern kingdom of Israel (centering in Samaria).  Each of the peoples brought their own gods and religions (see v.27-33) but they were also taught about the Lord God by a Israelite priest (possibly a Levitical priest  who lived in Israel but would have also most likely been greatly influenced by the Golden Calf worship).  Even in the midst of this mixture and eclectic worship of God, there seems to have been sparks of truth.  Jesus shows that he even loved and came for the Samaritans. He told the Samaritan woman at the well, “Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. 22 You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. 24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” (John 4:21-24 ESV).  Jesus proclaimed, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life”. And then goes on to declare, “No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6 ESV).  God has planted seeds of truth in every culture and peoples, but there is only ONE WAY to God the Father.  Jesus came to show us the way and to lead us back to right relationship with the One True God, Creator and Redeemer of the World (see Heb 4:16 and 10:19-22 etc.).
