２列王記 18:5-7（リビングバイブルJCB）　王はイスラエルの神、主に心から信頼していました。あとにも先にも、ヒゼキヤのような王はいませんでした。 6すべての点で主に従い、主がモーセに授けられた命令を注意深く守りました。 7主は彼とともにいて、彼のすることをみな祝福しました。

コメント

みことばはヘゼキヤについてこのように言っています。「彼の後にも前にも、ユダの王たちの中で、彼ほどの者はだれもいなかった」（JSS2017）（これはレホブアム以来）。これは父アハズと背反対です。アハズはユダの王の中で最悪の王の一人でした。あらゆる忌むべきことを行った。しかし、ヘゼキヤ王は主の目にかなうことを行いました。正しいことを追求し行いました。偶像礼拝にかかわることをユダから取り除きました。主に信頼しました。アッシリアとの関係を断ち切りました。彼の母親はゼカリヤの娘アビと言い、祭司族の娘か、少なくとも神を恐れ敬う方でした（2節参照）。しかし、ヘゼキヤ自身主に従い、ユダ王国を主に立ち返らせるために心を尽くしました。後に見ますように、大きな代価も覚悟しました。「主は彼とともにおられた。彼はどこへ出て行っても成功を収めた」（7節 JSS2017）。これは知恵の書、箴言に書いたある通りです。「心を尽くして主に拠り頼め。自分の悟りに頼るな。あなたの行く道すべてにおいて、主を知れ。主があなたの進む道をまっすぐにされる。自分を知恵のある者と考えるな。主を恐れ、悪から遠ざかれ」（箴言3:5-7 JSS2017; 詩篇37篇;　エレミヤ17:7-8なども参照）。イエスはこのように言いました。「まず神の国と神の義を求めなさい。そうすれば、これらのものはすべて、それに加えて与えられます」（マタイ6:33 JSS2017）。

2Ki 18:5-7 NIV84  Hezekiah trusted in the LORD, the God of Israel. There was no one like him among all the kings of Judah, either before him or after him. 6 He held fast to the LORD and did not cease to follow him; he kept the commands the LORD had given Moses. 7 And the LORD was with him; he was successful in whatever he undertook. He rebelled against the king of Assyria and did not serve him.

Observation

Scripture says that “There was no one like (Hezekiah) among all the kings of Judah” (that is from Rehoboam on.)  This is in direct contrast to his father, Ahaz who was a one of the worst; he totally turned his back on The Lord and walked in every abominable way imaginable. Hezekiah did what was right in the eyes of the Lord. He removed much of the idolatry in Judah.  He trusted the Lord. He rebelled and broke the alliance with Assyria.  His mother was Abijah daughter of Zechariah, obviously a godly woman, possibly even a daughter of the one of Levitical priests. But he made a choice to walk in the ways of the Lord and help turn Judah back to the Lord.  It would come at a great cost, as we will see, but “The Lord was with him; he was successful in whatever he undertook.”  This is exactly what was promised by God in Proverbs, the Book of Wisdom, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. 6 Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take. 8 Then you will have healing for your body and strength for your bones. 9 Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. 10 Then He will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine.” (Pro 3:5-6, 8-10 NIV84; see also Psa 37; Jer 17:7-8 etc.)  Jesus said it this way, “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (Matt 6:33 ESV).
