２列王記 20:5-6（リビングバイブル JCB） 「わたしの民の指導者ヒゼキヤのもとに引き返して、こう告げなさい。先祖ダビデの神、主は、王の祈りを聞き、涙を見た。わたしは彼を癒やそう。三日後には、彼は床から起き上がり、神殿の前に立つ。 6彼の寿命を十五年延ばそう。そしてアッシリヤの王の手から、王とこの町とを救い出す。そうするのは、わたしの栄光のため、また、わたしのしもべダビデのためである。」

コメント　

主なる神はすでに、ヘゼキヤのために働かれて、彼とエルサレムをアッシリヤの攻撃から守り救い出しました。しかし、今度は、ヘゼキヤ自身が病に倒れて、死にそうです（敗血症の可能性があります、7節参照）。ヘゼキヤは主に顔を向け叫び呼ばわり、主がもう一度救い出してくださるようにと祈りました。主は彼の叫びを聞き、いやすことを約束し、さらに寿命を１５年間伸ばすと約束しました。また主なる神のあわれみが示された事例です。どんな境遇にあっても、私たちはいつでも主に呼ばわることができます。「苦難の日に　わたしを呼び求めよ。わたしはあなたを助け出し　あなたはわたしをあがめる」（詩篇50:15 JSS2017； 詩篇91:15; 107:6,19,28なども参照）。みことばの中で私たちは主を呼び求めるようにとくりかえし勧められています。「あなたがたがわたしに呼びかけ、来て、わたしに祈るなら、わたしはあなたがたに耳を傾ける。あなたがたがわたしを捜し求めるとき、心を尽くしてわたしを求めるなら、わたしを見つける。わたしはあなたがたに見出される」（エレミヤ29:12-14 JSS2017）。主はヘゼキヤを癒されただけではなく、驚くべき奇跡のしるしをも与えてくださいました。日時計が十度元に戻りました（9-10節参照）。私たちの全能なる神は全宇宙の支配者であり、不可能はありません。また、私たちの涙と叫びの祈りにも応えられます。

2Ki 20:5-6 NLT  “Go back to Hezekiah, the leader of My people. Tell him, ‘This is what the LORD, the God of your ancestor David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears. I will heal you, and three days from now you will get out of bed and go to the Temple of the LORD. 6 I will add fifteen years to your life, and I will rescue you and this city from the king of Assyria. I will defend this city for My own honor and for the sake of My servant David.'”

Observation

God has intervened on Hezekiah’s behalf and delivered him and Jerusalem from the Assyrian siege.  But Hezekiah now becomes deathly ill, possibly blood poisoning from and boil (see v.7).  Isaiah the prophet first tells him to put his house in order because he is going to die.  Hezekiah turns to the Lord and cries out for God to intervene once again and restore him.  The Lord hears his cry and promises Hezekiah 15 more years.  This is yet an example of the mercy of our Lord God.  No matter what situation we are in, we can always call on the Lord. “Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.” (Psa 50:15 NIV84; see also Psa 91:15; 107:6,19,28 etc.) Repeatedly we are challenged to call on the Lord in the day of our trouble. “Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you.” (Jer 29:12-14 NIV84).  God not only miraculously healed and restored Hezekiah but gave him a most miraculous sign, the shadow on the sundial went back 10 degrees! (see v.9-11)  Our God Almighty is Master of the Universe he created and controls it.  He will also respond to our cries and hear our prayers.
