２列王記 22:13 （新改訳JSS2017）　「行って、この見つかった書物のことばについて、私のため、民のため、ユダ全体のために、主を求めよ。私たちの先祖たちがこの書物のことばに聞き従わず、すべて私たちについて記されているとおりに行わなかったために、私たちに向かって燃え上がった主の憤りが激しいからだ。」

ヨシア王は主の前で正しい心を持っていました。彼は主の求め、従って歩むことを決心しました。まず、父と父祖がないがしろにし、崩れていた神の神殿を掃除し、修復することを命じました。神殿を掃除している時、祭司たちは主の律法の書を見つけ出しました（8節参照）。長い間、無視され、隠されていました。ヨシヤ王のところに持って行かれて、読み聴かせました。彼はその中にあることに大きなショックを受け、驚きました。恐怖に襲われました（多分特に申命記28章が読まれたとき）。その悲劇のあまり着ていた王の衣を引き裂きました。そして、祭司たちと部下たちを女預言者フルダに送って主のことばを伺いました。彼女はこのように答えました。「主はこう言われる。見よ。わたしは、ユダの王が読み上げた書物のすべてのことばどおりに、この場所とその住民の上にわざわいをもたらす。彼らはわたしを捨て、ほかの神々に犠牲を供え、自分たちのすべての手のわざで、わたしの怒りを引き起こした。こうして、わたしの憤りはこの場所に燃え上がり、消えることはない」（16-17節 JSS2017）。明日、ヨシア王の反応を見ます。曾お爺さんのヘゼキア王の用に応答するでしょうか（20:19参照）、それとも、応答は違うでしょうか？神のことばに対して私たちがどのように応答するかはとても重要です。しかし、まず、みことばを読み、聴かされること、なじむことが大切です。「あなたのみことばは　私の足のともしび 私の道の光です」（詩篇 119:105 JSS2017）。「私の目を開いてください。私が目を留めるようにしてください」（詩篇119:18JSS2017）。「あなたのみおしえのうちにある奇しいことに。私は　真実の道を選び取り　あなたの定めを自らの前に置きました」（詩篇119:18 JSS2017）。「どのようにして若い人は　自分の道を　清く保つことができるでしょうか。あなたのみことばのとおりに　道を守ることです。私はあなたのみことばを心に蓄えます」（詩篇 119:9,11 JSS2017）。

2Ki 22:13 NIV84 “Go and inquire of the LORD for me and for the people and for all Judah about what is written in this book that has been found. Great is the LORD’s anger that burns against us because our fathers have not obeyed the words of this book; they have not acted in accordance with all that is written there concerning us.”

Observation

Josiah heart is right before the Lord.  He determines to seek the Lord and to repair the Temple of the Lord which has been neglected and deteriorated during the reigns of his father and grandfather. As they cleaning out the Temple and repairing it, the priests come across a copy of the book of the Law (see v.8).  Evidently it has not been seen or followed for many years.  When they bring it to Josiah and read it to him, his response is shock and horror at what he is hearing (see especially Deut 28). King Josiah tears his robes in great anguish.  He sends his officials to inquire of the Lord through Huldah the prophetess and her response is: “”This is what the LORD says: I am going to bring disaster on this place and its people, according to everything written in the book the king of Judah has read. 17 Because they have forsaken me and burned incense to other gods and provoked me to anger by all the idols their hands have made, my anger will burn against this place and will not be quenched.’” (v.16-17 NIV84).  Tomorrow we will see how Josiah responds. Will it be like his great-grandfather Hezekiah (see 20:19) or something else?  How we respond to the word of the Lord is very important.  But first we must read and hear the Word of the Lord. “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. (Psa 119:105 NIV84). “Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law.” (Psa 119:18 NIV84).  “I have chosen the way of truth; I have set my heart on your laws.” (Psa 119:30 NIV84). “How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word. 11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” (Psa 119:9,11 NIV84).
