２列王記 23:17（新改訳JSS2017）　ヨシヤは言った。「あそこに見える石碑は何か。」すると、町の人々は彼に答えた。「ユダから出て来て、あなたがベテルの祭壇に対してされたこれらのことを預言した神の人の墓です。」

ヨシヤ王は非常に熱心に偶像崇拝と異国の宗教礼拝を自分の領土だけではなく、隣のイスラエルの地法からも取り除き、地をきよめようと努めました。実はこれらはユダとイスラエルの王たちが長年にわたって、ユダとイスラエルを汚してきたものでした（10-12節参照）。なんとソロモンとヤロブアム王たちから始まりました（13-15節参照）。ベテルでヤロブアムが金の子牛の偶像とその祭壇を奉献したときに主はユダから一人の預言者を送り、その金の子牛と祭壇を呪い、さばきを宣言しました。「すると、この人は主の命令によって祭壇に向かい、これに呼びかけて言った。「祭壇よ、祭壇よ、主はこう言われる。『見よ、一人の男の子がダビデの家に生まれる。その名はヨシヤ。彼は、おまえの上で香をたく高き所の祭司たちを、いけにえとしておまえの上に献げ、人の骨がおまえの上で焼かれる』」（１列王記 13:2 JSS2017）。これはさらに偉大なヨシア（名前は主の炎、または、主は焼き尽くす意味）、イエスを指しています。イエスご自身が言いました。「わたしは、地上に火を投げ込むために来ました。火がすでに燃えていたらと、どんなに願っていることでしょう。50わたしには受けるべきバプテスマがあります。それが成し遂げられるまで、わたしはどれほど苦しむことでしょう。51あなたがたは、わたしが地上に平和をもたらすために来たと思っていますか。そうではありません。あなたがたに言いますが、むしろ分裂です」（ルカ12:49-51 JSS2017）。イエスが神殿を貪りと貪欲の偶像（エペソ5：5； コロサイ 3:5参照）からきよめるのを見たとき弟子たちは悟りました。「弟子たちは、「あなたの家を思う熱心が私を食い尽くす」と書いてあるのを思い起こした」（ヨハネ2:17 JSS2017）。私たち自身は神の神殿でありますが、どれほどこの神殿をきよいものとして守り、主に喜ばれるいけにえをささげるものとしているでしょうか（１コリント6:18-20；ローマ12:1-2参照）？

2Ki 23:17 NIV84 The king asked, “What is that tombstone I see?” The men of the city said, “It marks the tomb of the man of God who came from Judah and pronounced against the altar of Bethel the very things you have done to it.”
Observation

Josiah was very zealous and committed to remove all of the idolatry and pagan worship that the kings of Judah and of Israel had established and filled the land (see v.10-12), even from the days of Solomon and Jeroboam  (see v.13-15). A prophet from Judah had gone to Jeroboam’s dedication of the Golden Calf and altar at Bethel and pronounced God’s judgment. He prophesied the name of the king from Judah, of the line of David that would totally destroy this altar, “A son named Josiah will be born to the house of David.  On you he will sacrifice the priests of the high places who now make offerings here and human bones will be burned on you.” (1Kings 13:2 NIV84).  This is also a picture of what the Greater Josiah (his name means “The Lord burns; the fire of the Lord”).  Jesus himself said, “I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled! But I have a baptism to undergo, and how distressed I am until it is completed! Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division.” When the disciples saw Jesus also cleanse the temple of the idolatry of greed (see Eph 5:5; Col 3:5), “His disciples remembered that it is written: “Zeal for your house will consume me.” (John 2:17).  How zealous are we to cleanse our lives, the temple of the Holy Spirit (see 1Cor 6:18-20; Rom 12:1-2), of all uncleanness and wickedness that is unpleasing to the Lord?
