２テサロニケ 2:3,9,10（新改訳JSS2017）どんな手段によっても、だれにもだまされてはいけません。まず背教が起こり、不法の者、すなわち滅びの子が現れなければ、主の日は来ないのです。9不法の者は、サタンの働きによって到来し、あらゆる力、偽りのしるしと不思議、10また、あらゆる悪の欺きをもって、滅びる者たちに臨みます。彼らが滅びるのは、自分を救う真理を愛をもって受け入れなかったからです。

弟子たちはイエスにたずねられました。「お話しください。いつ、そのようなことが起こるのですか。あなたが来られ、世が終わる時のしるしは、どのようなものですか」(マタイ24:3 JSS2017)。パウロも、テサロニケにおられたとき終わりの時代にについて、イエスの来臨とこの地上におけるキリストが治める新しい時代とその前兆としてどのようなことが起こるかを教えられました。テサロニケにおいてあるうわさが飛び回り、その、「主の日」がもうすでに起きたと驚かされた人々がいました。しかし、パウロはこのことについて聞きただしました。その時代が来る前にまだ起きなければならないことが様々あると言いました。特に、「不法の者、すなわち滅びの子」（滅びに定められた者）が現わされなければなりません。この者は「反キリスト」と呼ばれたり、ダニエル書などで、「獣」と呼ばれるものです。この人は天の神に対する反抗者の究極的な現れであり、イエスが神の受肉の現れであったように、サタン悪魔の肉的現れとなる者です。この時代は「大患難」とも呼ばれ（マタイ24:21-22参照）、キリスト者、イエスを信じる者にとっては恐れの時ではなく、大いなる救いの時が近づいていることを指し、キリストの来臨の時を示すものです。「そうした苦難の日々の後、ただちに太陽は暗くなり、月は光を放たなくなり、星は天から落ち、天のもろもろの力は揺り動かされます。30そのとき、人の子のしるしが天に現れます。そのとき、地のすべての部族は胸をたたいて悲しみ、人の子が天の雲のうちに、偉大な力と栄光とともに来るのを見るのです」（マタイ24:29-30 JSS2017）。ゆえにイエスは弟子たちに言いました。「これらのことが起こり始めたら、身を起こし（しっかり立って JCB）、頭を上げなさい。あなたがたの贖いが近づいているからです」（ルカ21:28 JSS2017）。この時滅びる者は「自分を救う真理を愛をもって受け入れなかったからです」。だから、私たちは「信仰の創始者っであり完成者であるイエスから、目を離さないで」いなければなりません（へブル12:2JSS2017）。そして、いつも真理を愛するものとならなければなりません。

2Th 2:3,9,10 NIV84  Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. 9 The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, 10 and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.

Observation

The disciples had asked Jesus, “Tell us,…when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?” (Matt 24:3 NIV84).  Paul also taught on the developments of the end time to come, which would lead up to the culmination of the return of Christ and the ushering in of a new age of Christ’s reign here on earth.  There was a rumor going around Thessalonica that the “Day of the Lord” had already happened, and some were fearful that they had “missed it.”  But Paul clarifies that there is still much more to happen before the end of this age.  One thing is the revealing of the “man of lawlessness (or “the man of sin”), or “the man of perdition” (doom, destruction, the one doomed to destruction).  Other places in Scripture this person is called “The Antichrist” or “The Beast” revealed in the book of Daniel.  He will be the ultimate revelation or Satan’s rebellion against God, and who will be the personification of Satan himself (just as Jesus was the incarnation of the God.)　Though this time is called “The Great Tribulation” (see Matt 24:21-22,), for the believers of Jesus it is not a time to be fearful, but rather a time to anticipate the greatest salvation of all time, because it signals the return of Jesus Christ. “Immediately after the distress of those days “‘the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’ 30 “At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory.” (Matt 24:29-30 ESV)  That is also why Jesus told the disciples, “When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” (Luke 21:28 NIV84). Those who perish will do so “because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.” Let’s look to Jesus, “the author and finisher of our faith” (Heb 12:2) and always have a love for truth.
