ネヘミヤ 7:2（新改訳JSS2017）　私は兄弟ハナニとこの城の長ハナンヤに、エルサレムを治めるように命じた。これは、ハナンヤが誠実な人であり、多くの人にまさって神を恐れていたからであった。

コメント

指導者となる（リーダシップの）最も重要な格は誠実さと神を恐れることです。もちろん賜物や能力も大切ですが、誠実さと神への恐れがなければ、権力、お金、人の恐れなどに左右されて、汚職にはまったり、曲がった歪められたものとなり、破滅と崩壊に至ります。モーセが民の中から指導者たちを選ぶように助言されたときに、このようなものを選ぶように言われました。「あなたはまた、民全体の中から、神を恐れる、力のある人たち、不正の利を憎む誠実な人たちを見つけ、千人の長、百人の長、五十人の長、十人の長として民の上に立てなさい」（出エジプト記 18:21 JSS2017；２サムエル記 23:2も参照）。パウロも忠告しました。「あなたが多くの証人の前でわたしから聞いたことを、さらにほかの者たちにも教えることのできるような忠実な人々に、ゆだねなさい」（２テモテ 2:2 口語訳）。他のところでパウロはまた言いました。「その場合、管理者に要求されることは、忠実だと認められることです」（１コリント 4:2 JSS2017）。イエスも言いました。「最も小さなことに忠実な人は、大きなことにも忠実であり、最も小さなことに不忠実な人は、大きなことにも不忠実です。ですから、あなたがたが不正の富に忠実でなければ、だれがあなたがたに、まことの富を任せるでしょうか」（ルカ 16:10-11　JSS2017）。詩篇や箴言と通しても教えられています。「知恵の初め　それは主を恐れること。これを行う人はみな賢明さを得る。主の誉れは永遠に立つ」（詩篇111:10 JSS2017; 箴言1:7; 9:10なども参照）。何より、誠実の者、神を恐れる人、忠実に使える者となることをいつも目指しましょう。

Neh 7:2  I put in charge of Jerusalem my brother Hanani, along with Hananiah the commander of the citadel, because he was a man of integrity and feared God more than most men do.

Observation

The first and foremost qualification for leadership is integrity and the fear of God.  Of course giftings and abilities are important but unless there is integrity and the fear of God, power, money, fear of man etc. will corrupt leadership and bring destruction. When Moses chose leaders he was advised, “But select capable men from all the people—men who fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain—and appoint them as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens.” (Exo 18:21 NIV84; see also 2Sam23:3).  Paul also warned, “What you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” (2Tim 2:2 NIV84).  Also Paul said, “Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.” (1Cor 4:2 ESV). Jesus said it this way, “”One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.11 If then you have not been faithful in the unrighteous wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches?” (Luk 16:10-11 ESV).  Psalms and Proverbs repeatedly teach us, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!” (Psa 111:10; see also Pro 1:7; 9:10 etc.).  Above all else let’s seek to be people of integrity who fear God and strive to be faithful.
