今日のことば

ネヘミヤ 10:32, 35,37 （新改訳JSS2017）　私たちは、自分たちの神の宮での礼拝のために、毎年シェケルの三分の一を献げる義務を自らに課す。35 また、私たちの土地の初なりと、あらゆる木の初なりの果実をすべて、毎年、主の宮に携えて来ることに決める。37 ．．．また、私たちの土地の十分の一はレビ人たちのものとする。レビ人は、私たちの耕作するすべての町から十分の一を受け取る者たちである。

コメント

民が神のみことばを守り行うことを誓われた中で、主の家と仕えるレビ人と祭司を支えるために、什一とささげものをささげることをも決心しました。これは神のことばに対する従う心の実践的な現われの一つでした。同じ時代に神のことばを語られた預言者マラキによって、神はこのように語られました。「十分の一をことごとく、宝物倉に携えて来て、わたしの家の食物とせよ。こうしてわたしを試してみよ。──万軍の主は言われる──わたしがあなたがたのために天の窓を開き、あふれるばかりの祝福を あなたがたに注ぐかどうか。11わたしはあなたがたのために、食い荒らすものを叱って、あなたがたの大地の実りを滅ぼさないようにし、畑のぶどうの木が不作とならないようにする。──万軍の主は言われる── 12すべての国々は、あなたがたを幸せ者と言うようになる。あなたがたが喜びの地となるからだ。──万軍の主は言われる」（マラキ 3:10-12 JSS2017）。神が戒められただけではなく、思いをはるかに超えて祝福されると約束しました。新約においてこれは律法ではなく、自由に、心から進んで成すようにと教えられています。「私が伝えたいことは、こうです。わずかだけ蒔く者はわずかだけ刈り入れ、豊かに蒔く者は豊かに刈り入れます。7一人ひとり、いやいやながらでなく、強いられてでもなく、心で決めたとおりにしなさい。神は、喜んで与える人を愛してくださるのです。8神はあなたがたに、あらゆる恵みをあふれるばかりに与えることがおできになります。あなたがたが、いつもすべてのことに満ち足りて、すべての良いわざにあふれるようになるためです」。今日も神の種まきと刈り取りの原則は有効であり、働きます。

Neh 10:32,35,37 NIV84  “We assume the responsibility for carrying out the commands to give a third of a shekel each year for the service of the house of our God.  35  “We also assume responsibility for bringing to the house of the LORD each year the firstfruits of our crops and of every fruit tree. 37…And we will bring a tithe of our crops to the Levites, for it is the Levites who collect the tithes in all the towns where we work.

Observation

Part of the people’s commitment to following the Word of God was to dedicate themselves to give tithes and offerings for the maintenance of the house of God and to the support of the Priests and Levites.  This is a practical expression of their heart and commitment to obey the Law and follow the Word of God.  Through the prophet Malachi (prophesying at about the same time) God speaks to his people about tithes and offerings, “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it. 11 I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not cast their fruit,” says the LORD Almighty. 12 “Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land,” says the LORD Almighty.” (Mal 3:10-12 NIV84).  God not only instructs us to give but promises to bless beyond imagination when we do give.  In the NT it is not a law but to be given freely from a willing heart. “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” (2Cor 9:6-8 NIV84).  The principle of sowing and reaping still works today.
