ガラテヤ 3:24-26 （リビングバイブルJCB）　言い換えると律法は、キリストが来られ、私たちが信仰によって神の前での正しい身分を与えられるまでの間の、私たちの教育係だったのです。25しかし、キリストが来られたので、もう、私たちを監督し、キリストに導く教育係は不要です。 26私たちはみな、すでに、イエス・キリストを信じる信仰によって神の子どもとなったからです。

パウロは律法（旧約のおきて）と私たちを神の前で義と認められる、正しく生きるための信仰との関係を説明しています。二つのイメージを例話として使っています。まず、律法は私たちを拘置所で、監視のもとに置かれているようなものだと言っています。すべての面において監視され、言われるとおりに生きなければならないものです。しかし、信仰によって約束を受けて生きる時に自由にされるのです。もう一つのイメージは子供が成長している間、養育係の元、監視、監督されますが、成熟し、成人となって、正しく判断し決断をする者となるときには、もはや正しいことをするためには常に監視される必要がない者となることです。神への信仰に生きることがすべてを変えます。この箇所で使われている「子」とは「フィオス」という原語のことばですが、これは成熟し成人した子供のことを意味します。私たちは幼児のように常に監視され、律法によって成業される必要はなく、成人した神の子として、神の約束を受けて信仰によって生きることによって、自由に生きることができるのです（聖霊の助けと導きによって正しいことを、正しい道を歩むことができる者となるのです）。それはキリストがなしてくださったことにより、私たちは神の子（成人されたもの）として、キリストにある自由のうちに生きることができるのです。そして、この立場はユダヤ人にも、異様人にも、男性にも、女性にも、奴隷にも、自由人にも与えられている特権です（28節参照）。パウロはまとめて言いました。「そして、キリストのものとなった今、私たちはほんとうの意味でアブラハムの子孫であり、アブラハムに与えられた神の約束を相続したのです」（29節 JCB）。

Gal 3:24-26 NLT  Let me put it another way. The law was our guardian until Christ came; it protected us until we could be made right with God through faith. 25 And now that the way of faith has come, we no longer need the law as our guardian. 26 For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

Observation

Paul is trying to show the relationship of the Law (of the OT) and the faith by which we are justified and made right with God.  He uses two illustrations. The first is that of the Law being a jailer that keeps us by force under restriction we are set free by faith to receive the promise.  The second illustration is that of a guardian given to watch over and protect a child until he is able to make wise and proper decisions and choices as a responsible adult.  Faith and the promises changed everything. The word used for sons or children is “Huios” is a fully mature, responsible adult child.  We are no longer under confinement of the Law but rather are free to walk in faith as mature sons and daughters of God our Father. We are able to walk in this freedom and privilege by faith in Christ Jesus and what he has done for us.  And this position belongs to both Jews and Gentiles, men or women (see v. 28). Paul concludes by summarizing: “And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and God’s promise to Abraham belongs to you.” (v. 29 NLT)
