Scripture
Psa 62:5-7 NIV84Â Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him. 6 He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. 7 My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge.
Observation
David is declaring his trust and hope in God who is his protection and salvation. He repeats this confession twice. “He along is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress…My salvation, my mighty rock, my refuge.â€Â When everything seems to be shaken and everyone seems to be against him, he knows there is one he can trust in and find his hiding place. Paul says it this way, “What has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance. 20 I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. 21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.†(Phil 1:19-21 NIV84). David also declares to others, “Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.†(v.8 NIV84; see also Isa 26:3-4). Proverbs says it this way, “The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.†(Pro 18:10 NIV84)
