黙示録 2:4-5 （リビングバイブルJCB）　しかし、一つだけ非難すべき点があります。それは、あなたがわたしを、初めのころのように愛していないことです。 5どうしてそうなったのか胸に手を当てて考え、初めの愛に立ち返って、以前のように励みなさい。

コメント

エペソの教会はこの地方で使徒パウロによって開拓された教会です。その影響はすぐに小アジアの全体に広がり（使徒19:10参照）、黙示録の七つの教会もここから始まりました。後に、使徒ヨハネがエペソの教会の牧会者となりました。その核心のメッセージは： 「愛する人たち。互いに愛し合いましょう。愛は神から出ています。ですから、愛のある人は、その行いによって、自分が神の子どもであることを明らかにし、ますます神を知るようになるのです。 8反対に、愛のない人に神はわかりません。なぜなら神は愛だからです。 9神は、かけがえのないご自分のひとり子をこの世に遣わし、そのひとり子の死によって、私たちに永遠のいのちを与えてくださいました。そのようにして、どんなに私たちを愛しておられるかを示されたのです。 10神に対する私たちの愛ではなく、私たちに対する神の愛によって、私たちの罪へのなだめとして、神のひとり子が遣わされました。ここに真の愛があるのです。11愛する人たち。神がこれほどまでに愛してくださったのですから、私たちもまた、互いに愛し合おうではありませんか。 12私たちは、だれも神を見たことがありません。しかし、互いに愛し合う時、神は私たちの心の中に住んでくださり、心の中にある神の愛を、なおいっそう強めてくださるのです」（１ヨハネ4:7-12 JCB）。エペソ教会のクリスチャンは神のために働くことであまりにも忙しくふるまいながら、最も大切な、神を愛し人を愛する心と霊をおろそかにしてしまっていたのです。初代教会の最も偉大な教会の一つでこのことが起こりうるとしたら、わたくしたちにもあり得るでしょうか？私たちの心と動機を吟味して、すべてが神を愛する、人を愛することに基づいているかを確かめましょう。

Rev 2:4-5 TPT But I have this against you: you have abandoned the passionate love you had for me at the beginning. 5 Think about how far you have fallen! Repent and do the works of love you did at first.

Observation

Ephesus was the first church established in this region by the Apostle Paul. Its influence quickly spread through the whole of Asia Minor (see Acts 19:10), where the other churches of Revelations are. Later it was pastored by the Apostle John, the Apostle of Love whose message was: “Those who are loved by God, let his love continually pour from you to one another, because God is love. Everyone who loves is fathered by God and experiences an intimate knowledge of him. 8 The one who doesn’t love has yet to know God, for God is love. 9 The light of God’s love shined within us when he sent his matchless Son into the world so that we might live through him. 10 This is love: He loved us long before we loved him. It was his love, not ours. He proved it by sending his Son to be the pleasing sacrificial offering to take away our sins. 11 Delightfully loved ones, if he loved us with such tremendous love, then “loving one another” should be our way of life! 12 No one has ever gazed upon the fullness of God’s splendor. But if we love one another, God makes his permanent home in us, and we make our permanent home in him, and his love is brought to its full expression in us.” (1John 4:7-12 TPT).  The Christians at Ephesus had gotten so involved in doing works for God, they had forgotten that the spirit and source of everything we do must be based in loving God and loving one another.  If this can happen to one of the greatest churches in the NT, could it happen to us?  Let’s examine our heart and motives and make sure we base everything on loving God and loving one another.
