黙示録 2:12 （新改訳JSS2017）　また、ペルガモンにある教会の御使いに書き送れ。『鋭い両刃の剣を持つ方が、こう言われる──。

コメント

みことばの中で剣は権威とさばきの象徴です（ローマ13:4参照）。みことばは究極的な神の権威のことばです（エペソ6:17; ヘブル 4:12 参照）。ペルガモンの教会に与えられたイエスの姿は口から両刃の剣が出ているイメージです（黙示録 1:16参照）。イエス・キリストのことばによって全地がさばかれます。私たち神の民もみことばによってさばかれなければなりません。私たちはみことばによって、自分を吟味しさばくべきです。「神のことばは生きていて、力があり、両刃の剣よりも鋭く、たましいと霊、関節と骨髄を分けるまでに刺し貫き、心の思いやはかりごとを見分けることができます。神の御前にあらわでない被造物はありません。神の目にはすべてが裸であり、さらけ出されています。この神に対して、私たちは申し開きをするのです」（へブル 4:12-13 JSS2017）。神のさばきの御座に立つ前に、みことばをさばきの書として自分を吟味するために用いましょう（黙示録 20:4参照）。

Rev 2:12 NIV84 “To the angel of the church in Pergamum write: These are the words of him who has the sharp, double-edged sword.

Observation

The sword in scripture represents authority and judgment (see Rom 13:4). The ultimate authority is the Word of God (see Eph 6:17; Heb 4:12).  The image of Jesus given to the church of Pergamos is that of the two-edged sword coming from his mouth (see Rev 1:16).  By the Word of Jesus Christ all the earth will be judged, and so will we as his people.  We can examine and judge ourselves by the Word of God before we ultimately stand before the Judgement Seat of Christ (Rev. 20:4).  “For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. 13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.” (Heb 4:12-13 NIV84).  Let’s let the Word of God examine us and show us God’s judgement before we have to stand before the final judgement seat of Christ.
