黙示録 3:14 （新改訳JSS2017）　また、ラオディキアにある教会の御使いに書き送れ。『アーメンである方、確かで真実な証人、神による創造の源である方がこう言われる──。

黙示録の各教会にイエスはご自身の性質を示されています。ラオディキア教会に「アーメンなる方」、「確かで真実な証人」、「神の創造の源である方」としてあらわされています。イエスを理解するためにその一つ一つは欠あかせないものです。イエスはアーメンである（アーメンとは原語で真実、まことの意味）。イエスは言いました。「わたしは道であり、真理であり、いのちです」（ヨハネ14:6; イザヤ65:16参照、「まことの神」＝「アーメンの神」）。それに伴って、イエスは確かで真実な証人。これは黙示録に、また聖書全体に繰り返し表現されています（黙示録1:5； 19:11; イザヤ55:4； エレミヤ42:5など参照）。イエスが語られることは真実であり、誠です。完全に信頼することのできる方であり、その言葉も信頼することができます。多分最も誤解され、曲解されているイエスに関する説明は「神の創造の源である方」です。これは、イエスが神の最初の被造物という意味ではなく、被造物のすべての源、創造者なる方という意味です。この「源」ということばの意味を知るためにヨハネ1:1で使われている意味を理解しなければなりません。「初めにことばがあった。ことばは神とともにあった。ことばは神であった。この方は、初めに神とともにおられた。すべてのものは、この方によって造られた。造られたもので、この方によらずにできたものは一つもなかった」（ヨハネ1:1-3 JSS2017）。「初めに」の原語は「源」と同じことばです。すべのものはイエス・キリストから出のです。ゆえに、その性質も言葉も信頼し信じることができるのです。イエスは言いました、「ですから、わたしのこれらのことばを聞いて、それを行う者はみな、岩の上に自分の家を建てた賢い人にたとえることができます。雨が降って洪水が押し寄せ、風が吹いてその家を襲っても、家は倒れませんでした。岩の上に土台が据えられていたからです」（マタイ7:24-25 JSS2017）。

Rev 3:14 AMP And to the angel (messenger) of the assembly (church) in Laodicea write: These are the words of the Amen, the trusty and faithful and true Witness, the Origin and Beginning and Author of God’s creation: [Isa. 55:4; Prov. 8:22.]

Observation

To each church Jesus reveals an aspect of himself.  To the church of Laodicea, he is “The Amen”, The Faithful and True Witness, The Origin, Ruler or Author of God’s creation.  Each of these aspects are very crucial for us to understand who Jesus is.  He is the Amen, The Truth (what Amen literally means).  Jesus said, I am the way, The Truth, and the life.” (John 14:6; see also Isa 65:4, Truth=Amen).  Along with that He is the Faithful and True Witness. This is repeated throughout Revelations and the Scriptures (see Rev 1:5; 19:11; Isa 55:4; Jer 42:5). What he says is true and we can fully put our trust in Him and his word.  Probably one of the most misunderstood and twisted descriptions of Jesus is “The Beginning of Creation”.  This does NOT mean he was the first thing God created but that all creation comes from him, he is the source of all creation. This same word is used in John 1:1 and explains the meaning of this word here, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.” (John 1:1-3 NIV84).  This is why we can fully trust and rely on Jesus and everything he says and does.  Jesus said, “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.” (Matt 7:24-25 NIV84).
