黙示録 5:5-6（新改訳JSS2017）　すると、長老の一人が私に言った。「泣いてはいけません。ご覧なさい。ユダ族から出た獅子、ダビデの根が勝利したので、彼がその巻物を開き、七つの封印を解くことができます。」また私は、御座と四つの生き物の真ん中、長老たちの真ん中に、屠られた姿で子羊が立っているのを見た。それは七つの角と七つの目を持っていた。その目は、全地に遣わされた神の七つの御霊であった。

コメント

ここでまた、イエスを説明する表現があります。黙示録の中で何回も、あるものが紹介され説明さるとき、ヨハネが振り向いて見ると、全く違う様子を見ますが、実は同じものを違った角度で見ているのです。一人の強い御使いが大声で尋ねます、「巻物を開き、封印を解くのにふさわしい者は誰か」（2節）。答えが宣言されました。「ご覧なさい。ユダ族から出た獅子、ダビデの根が勝利したので、彼がその巻物を開き、七つの封印を解くことができます」。ところが、振り向いて見ますと、そこにいたのは獅子ではなく、「ほふられた姿で子羊が立っているのを見た」。なんと対照的でしょう。しかしどちらもイエス・キリストを表す描写です。ユダ族の獅子であります。ダビデ王の王権を受け継ぐ正当な跡継ぎであります。しかし、さらに私たちを贖い、共同相続人とするためにご自分の血を持って、私たちのための身代金を支払われた方です。この方が御座に近づき巻物を受け取りました。封印をも解く資格のある方です。ここから黙示録のすべての出来事が始まります（これこそ黙示です）。忘れてはならないことは、イエスは黙示録の中心人物であることです。イエスに目をとめ、注目しましょう。

Rev 5:5-6 ESV  And one of the elders said to me, “Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals.” 6 And between the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders I saw a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, with seven horns and with seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth.

Observation

Here are some more descriptions and expressions of who Jesus is.  Repeatedly in the book of Revelations, one thing is described or declared but when John turns to see it, he sees something very different, but another aspect of the thing just described.  An angel asks the question, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals?” (v.2).  The answer is proclaimed, “Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals.”  But when John turns to see the Lion, what he sees is “a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain.” What a contrast! But what a complete picture of who Jesus Christ is!  He is the Lion of the Tribe of Judah. He also is the rightful heir to the throne of David.  But He is also the Lamb slain from the foundations of the world to redeem and ransom his people.  He steps forward to take the scroll because He alone is worthy to break its seals and open the scroll.  This is where things begin to happen, and all is revealed (Revelation). Again, we must always remember that Jesus is the central figure of the Book of Revelations.  Let’s keep our eyes and attention on Him.
